Do like the cabinet, but wish the company would have cut the doors - all four - an eighth of an inch longer and wider to narrow up the gaps when closed. Other than this I like everything about the cabinet. Would have been nice if they had drilled the nail holes in the back wall, but nailed together ok with out them.
Bought for different purpose
Budget shopper from Lake City, FL
Well, I thought this was bigger than it was. I measured it, but when I received it, it was smaller than expected. However, it is serving its purpose for what I bought it for. I needed to expand my pantry for can goods and small items. Works great for that. I am sure it would be a great multimedia cabinet also if I needed one. Is it a solid piece of furniture? Of course not. It is for the budget shopper. If you expected more from this price then you were a wishful thinker! It is a fair price for the product but getting it on sale is the way to go. That way you feel like you have gotten a deal. Kind of unstable against a wall with a baseboard. Have to brace it at the top to keep it from rocking. All in all, a pretty good product for my purposes.
very cheaply made
Josette from Virginia
By mistake, I actually ordered 2 of these and am appalled at how cheaply made they are. The doors and sides are of a wood composite and covered with a laminate. At all the corners/sides you can see white lines where the two pieces of laminate meet. There is no laminate on the top so if you can see the top you won't see any of the finish. When trying to adjust the doors (on the floor, before standing up) two of them fell off pulling the screws out of the unit. I had to fix this by using plastic wood, which seems to be working. The bottom comes in 2 pieces which looks great before attached. After being attached you can see a gap between the pieces as the 4 holes in the unit and the bottom do not line up. The back is merely cardboard and also comes in two pieces. The places you are suppose to nail are not predrilled or even marked with ink. No matter what you do, there will always be a gap somewhere where the light shows through, even with the doors closed because they don't meet perfectly. (OK for doors, but not the backing -- I cannot believe it was not 1 piece, even if folded like Prepac does.) If you look at the unit from the side, you can see the white sides of the cardboard. Also, this is a nail the sides into the top, bottom, and one shelf deal so the black screws stick out on the sides. They give you little plastic covers to cover the screws, but the color does not match the color of the laminate you ordered and it looks bizarre. It's better than the black screws, but not much. Several fell off and I had to glue them on. The large doors are warped and do not lay flat. From the side you can see where the top and bottom curl away from the unit. I even tried to put weights on the ends to push them down, but after 3 weeks I gave up. Contrary to another post, this is not made in the US, but in China. The bottom is much wider than the unit which means you cannot put 2 next to each other without a 6" or so gap where the wall shows through.
Sleek & modern looking
PHR from Wakefield. MA
The amount of storage is fantastic! I love the contemporary feel of the black unit. The only reason I gave 3 stars instead of higher... Very tedious and time consuming to assemble and I wish the sides were also black. The sides are left unfinished so I needed to color with a black permanent marker. We have the unit sideways in a corner so I needed to color the sides.
Nice for a decent price

The shelve came in alot of pieces. But luckily I had a girl here who put it together. After she did I really like it. My DVDs and CDs fit perfectly in it. It looks nice and its a nice piece of furniture.
Get your hammer and screwdriver ready!

I use the product to store CDs and it is alright for that purpose. It requires an excessive amount of assembly and is not as sturdy as I expected based on the depiction on the website. I would have preferred to pay a bit more and get a more sturdy product. Also, things such as the outer frame and hinges could have been at least partially assembled by the manufacturer for ease of the customer.
