Disappointed w/Wayfair furniture from Santa Maria, CA

10/18/2011
Poor quality furniture with 2 orders! Received this table & four chairs today. This set is gorgeous! The marble top is rich-looking and quite beautiful. By the way, the table and chair colors are darker than as photographed on Wayfair's website (even more attractive than online pic). There are two probs with this set. 1) One chair had two Right Braces (the short, curved piece @ inside corner of each back leg - see pic) instead of a Right Brace and a Left Brace. 2) If one gets at eye level with the top of the table and looks across that top, there seems to be a woobledy-looking area going straight across the table from one side to the other side (of this round table). It looks like a 'seam' which was not properly smoothed when the two, half-round pieces were put together. Because one can see the woobledy-looking seam, this detracts from the look and quality of the table. This makes for an other-wise gorgeous table look like it came from the cheap, junky, chain store (with a big, red 'K' in the name). I am disappointed with the way this table-top looks. I reminds me of what is called 'planking' when planks are put together when a furniture company is making the top of a bedroom dresser or chest. 'Planking' is when seams, where those planks meet, are not smooth but woobledy which is a sign of poor-quality furniture. One should NOT see or feel a seam with a woobledy-doo and/or height variations where the planks meet. I shall notify Wayfair and the factory so they can fix the prob. They need to send a Left Brace and to replace the bad table-top with one which is properly made. Another by the way, I placed a different order with Wayfair for a bedroom nightstand, and the drawer fronts are very poorly attached - they were delivered to me already loose and coming off! The description (Standard Furniture Rococo Bedroom set) reads, 'French Dovetail.' Beware as this means nothing more than glue and staples - very cheap construction! Buy only English Dovetail as this is the way furniture should be made. Overall, I am not pleased or happy with the quality of Wayfair furniture I have ordered. In future, I shall NOT buy furniture from the Wayfair website. I am not looking forward to seeing how many WEEKS it will take for a replacement part and table-top. I am already waiting for someone to PU the defective nightstand and return it to Wayfair and Standard Furniture Co. Buying from Wayfair has been an ordeal. It is your choice to take your chances with the quality of furniture when buying from Wayfair. |
