Solid and Well Made Speaker Stands Product Review Part of why I bought this brand and model is that the speakers are fairly large and heavy and deep for book shelf speakers. This brand and model (including the 29 inch height) has a wide and deep) top plate that most others do not have. This brand and model also has a naturally heavy base plate made of cast iron. What VTI could do to improve this model and this series is: 1. Make the base plate thicker (perhaps twice as thick) and solid instead of mostly a shell like it is for extra material = more weight where it is needed at the bottom. 2. Use a mounting template to position the VTI emblems consistently from one stand to the next as they are not even close or straight. 3. Substantially increase the diameter of the holes in the end caps of the legs for pouring lead shot or sand into as they are ridiculously small. You would need a small diameter funnel or straw and lots of time. Here is an idea for VTI for safety concerns: My wife and I have two very young boys who love to sit and play near these stands and the speakers on top of them. I drilled a rectangular pattern of four 7/32 inch diameter holes in each top plate using a carbide or cobalt drill bit as that is the type needed. Before assembling the stands, I turned the speakers upside down and placed the top plates on the bottoms of the speakers where I wanted them, marked the centers of the holes, and drilled four pilot holes into the bottom of each speaker. I then assembled the stands, turned the each one upside down, placed it on top of the bottom of each speaker, and used pan head sheet metal screws to securely fasten each speaker to each stand. I then also inserted a small screw eye into the bottom of each speaker and used several strands of heavy string back and forth to a second large screw eye that got screwed into a stud in the wall as close to each speaker so that neither speaker nor the stand could fall or sway more than one inch. Now my children cannot topple the speakers off of the stands or topple the stands themselves and are fully safe to play and roam around. Service Review Good shipping in just a few days via FedEx with no damage and no parts missing. Easy to follow instructions and excellent packaging of each part. All that you need is a utility knife or scissors for the packaging tape and a #2 Phillips screw driver. The other tool (an Allen wrench) is supplied and is easy to use. The carpet spikes work well. Once you have the assembled stands positioned exactly where and how you want them, use one foot only and stand on the front and then the back of the base plate to make the spikes pierce through the carpet. |

VTI RF series speaker stands The stands arrived in a very timely manner. They were packed extremely well and made the trip safely. I would say that the stands were even better than expected. They were very nice looking and also very sturdy when assembled. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a nice looking and very well built stand. |

Solid speaker stands I bought these stands to raise my B&W 685 bookshelf speakers up to ear level. They are heavy, secure, and good-looking (except for the VTI emblems, which were crooked, so I removed them). I filled the two rear posts of each stand with play sand. The included paper gaskets seemed strange, but I haven't had any problems with sand leaking out. Filling the front posts with sand would require plugging up the wire routing holes, which I haven't taken the time to do. Even with the front posts empty, resonance isn't a problem, at least to my ears. It's a big improvement over my previous ad-hoc speaker stands, which were a couple of side tables. The large top plates on these stands are well-matched to the size of the 685s. Many of the other brands I looked at had a smaller top plate, which sounded like it would be bad for stability. I used Blu-Tack to make sure the speakers aren't going anywhere. |

Easy to set up When unable to find manufacturer's original stands for my high-end B&W speakers, I bought these. I am completely satisfied with the stands and the purchase experience. They show off my speakers nicely and carry the output of the speakers with no problems. |

Great Stands for Revel M20 These stands were ideal for my very heavy Revel M20s. Solid large base and reasonable speaker shelf. With such heavy (40#) speakers I wouldnt go taller than 24in. But they are not wobbly with spikes sunk into carpet. |
