This fire pit is really a nice big and deep size and can handle those bigger pieces of wood. The open grate style will allow you to get the warmth of the fire. For the money it is well worth it. This was pretty easy to put together. Like other reviews, you need two people to put the top on. First, we built the base. Then we flipped the top onto an outdoor blanket, placed base onto top and then secured the two together. Finally, we flipped entire piece again into the final place.
