Great little chicken coop from San Jose, CA on 12/30/2014 – Verified Buyer
We have been very pleased with this coop, which we purchased about a year ago for our two hens. The only reason I gave it four stars rather than five is that is that the ramp kept coming loose and my husband had to modify it to make it stay. That was a minor issue, though.

The coop was pretty easy to assemble and is quite solid. The egg box is roomy and accommodates two hens at a time. Two can also perch in the roosting area, though technically the coop is only large enough for two full-sized chickens or four bantams (an assessment with which I agree). We added hasps and spring clips in addition to the slide closures because we have problems with raccoons and didn't feel the slide latches were sufficiently secure. We also added an attached run (also sold by Trixie) to give our two hens a little more space, though it's not absolutely necessary.

I really like the fact that the coop has a solid back and left side (downstairs) because it keeps the hens' food dry in rainy weather. It's also nice that the roost part is big enough for them to hang out in if they want to. The roost part can be closed for extra security if needed and that is also a plus. The coop is easy to clean because the egg box has a hinged lid and the roosting area has both a door and slide-out tray.

All in all, it's a good option if you don't have the time and skill to build a coop yourself. It's a good value for the price.

5 stars for awesome customer service! from Camas, WA on 11/01/2014 – Verified Buyer
I ordered this chicken coop and after 1 week the the hinge on the nesting box broke and the ramp broke. The wood was soft and the screws just pulled out when lifting the lid and ramp. I didn't call or report it I just figured I was stuck. After a couple more weeks it was really bothering me because of the cost. I called Way fair and they gave me a full refund. The gal I spoke with was very nice and stated she just wanted to make sure I was satisfied. I didn't expect anything, but I wanted the manufacturer to know. I have since recommended way fair to many friends and relatives. I will continue to shop wayfair.com! Thank you!

Great little coop for it's purpose from Fineview, NY on 06/08/2015 – Verified Buyer
This is a great little coop. The directions were clear enough to put it together by myself. You don't need two people.
It has a reasonable amount of room for the chickens to move around. You can put water and food in a protected area. It's has enough room for 4 bantams for sure. Not for anything larger.
This should not be used as a winter coop if you live anywhere where there is snow and very cold weather.

Be aware it has a few design issues. First, the nesting boxes need to have wire mesh or some type of protection on the outside bottom of the box.
The latches need to be replaced, they look great but any critter could get into the coop. The door leading out side into the run needs to be reinforced with something that locks.
The ramp going up and down needs to have more slats. I put my 5 chicks into to the coop and they couldn't make it up or down the ramp. And I would like to see a way to close the little window at the side when it rains. I'm fairly handy so I made all of the above modifications myself.
Overall, it's a great transitional coop. Worth the money. I couldn't build it myself for cheaper.

Pros: Easy to put together.

Overall Very Happy from Toronto, ON on 09/30/2012 – Verified Buyer
Like other reviews Ive read, I did expect some damage when delivered. Minor cracks and dings, but made it work anyways. It was really easy to assemble, but the wood is of poor quality and splits easily. For the money spent, it was still worth it. Overall, I would get another one. Size is perfect for 2 rabbits, even though I have 3. I had to reinforce the corners so that it did not start to fall apart whenever I move it (I move it every day so the rabbits can eat a new patch of grass). My husband added wheels so that it can be moved easier. I also added 2 levels so they could have more room to hang out. The latch is rinky dink and definitely not predator proof. Racoons can get in very easily. I added additonal latches with locks. Again, not the best quality of materials, but it does come together quickly and easily, and fine for the price point. You couldn't build it for less. My bunnies love it.

Perfect backyard coop! from needham, MA on 04/04/2015 – Verified Buyer
This coop is a perfect size for 2-3 backyard chickens. Chickens have a protected upstairs area that can be closed off for nighttime and bad weather protection and ample roaming area on the ground. It was easy and fun to put together and is very practical to use. The pull our tray works well for cleaning and the tall door at the front of the coop makes for easy access for feeding and cleaning. I mounted a hanging feeder on the inside of the coop to save space.

Cons: Some of the hardware was not of the highest quality and I chose to upgrade it.

For our Fleming giant from Bellingham, WA on 10/28/2014 – Verified Buyer
The coop/hutch was easy for my 12 year old son and I to assemble. The kit came with extra hardware which is always a plus. I agree with other reviews that this is too small to use solely as a chicken coop but it functions perfectly as a safe haven at night, for nesting etc within a penned area. We have a 15 pound rabbit that is safe and snuggly in here but we let him run a larger penned area during daylight hours. The drawer and nesting box make for easy cleaning. The latches started to show rust within 24 hours. Our next task is to replace those 3 items.

great product great price from Bakersfield, CA on 10/01/2012 – Verified Buyer
This coop is small, yes, but perfect for two chickens here in town. It is very sturdy and was easy to put together. I glued everything to give it an extra punch of strength. I am very pleased with this unit.

Trixie chicken coop from Provincetown, MA on 07/23/2014 – Verified Buyer
Not good for someone who is really into raising hens. This is made more for a pet chicken one maybe two. No room for hanging food or water etc... Think about the cold months you are going to need space for water (heated) food.
It started splitting when attempting to screw it together.
I ended up taking it apart and only using the coop not the cage area it's way to small for chickens to move and scratch and stay healthy.

used all summer so far from ROCKBRIDGE, OH on 10/05/2014 – Verified Buyer
this pen has worked out great for 4 banty chickens, the closures needed some oil, though; my son put aluminum runners under it with a pull cable and it moves easily around the yard since it's lightweight
