They usually wear out, parts break or get loose and the cut is not accurate.
Just got this one yesterday and have used it this morning cutting 100lb heavy cardstock. I am thrilled with the results so far.
It cut through 6 or 7 sheets at a time quite easily. I did have to run the cutter over 3 or four times to cut through completely but no heavy pressure was required like with my previous cutters.
Very accurate, clean cuts. Easy to line up my paper.
I guess the main differences from the cutters I have been using are that the arm with the blade does not pivot up - you simply slide your paper underneath it and the blade's cutting area is on the right side of the arm, rather than the left.
