I use this product in my kitchen and it works great! Before this, we had an automatic trash can - you know the kind that use batteries. Well, we had all kinds of issues with it so I thought I would try this trash can. It's been great not having to deal with batteries dying, or the lid closing before I'm ready for it to close. The lid on this trash can slowly closes and you have plenty of time to get your trash into the trash before it closes. It's great not using my hands to touch the trash can. With my last trash can, the bag would always fall inside the can. With the one before that, I couldn't get the bag out without it ripping. This trash can is the first one that has met my needs- the bag stays firmly in place and is easy to remove when it's time to take it out. Love it, love it, love it! The motion sensor is great for my daughter who hated touching the trash can lid and would always drop garbage on the top if it (and then deny it completely). That problem is now gone. Thanks to the Wayfair blogger program, we have a good looking trash can that works well and keeps my kitchen cleaner. My dog knows how to open every other kind of trash can, so the locking lid is essential for me. The bag is very easy to change, and it is concealed nicely. I was looking for a stainless steel trash can for my kitchen. Seems these days, you "get what you pay for". Though on the "pricey" side, I decided to treat myself to a quality product, instead of dishing out additional money for a cheaply made can in a few years. The semi-round fits nicely into my small kitchen. Because it is a large capacity (for one person), it does tend to hold the stink of garbage. If I threw out my trash more often, that would solve the problem. At first, I thought something was wrong with the step-on pedal that opens the lid. When I read the brochure, I realized that it was a "quiet-close" system, and that the pedal lowers the top slowly and quietly. Now I feel like a big shot! :)There is no need to purchase the accompanying trash can liners, although they do fit this can perfectly.
