We've had two of the large (11 gallon) trash cans for years now. (Started with one, thought it was great, and bought another so we could separate garbage and "green bin".) We love them - they work great and we've had no issues with them at all. They are much better than the trash cans with the pedal mechanism that always breaks, and I don't like touching the garbage can lid when I'm in the kitchen preparing food. These trash cans solve both these problems. The batteries last for a long time - more than a year. After a recent kitchen reno, we needed smaller cans so have bought these ones. They've made a few design changes since we bought the first cans - the buttons are now covered so spills won't damage the electronics. If you have a large dog who likes to get into the garbage, or toddlers who might be rough on the lid, then I wouldn't get them. Otherwise, I highly recommend them."..."  Read more

I have a small kitchen. With limited space, everything I put in my kitchen comes with a lot of thought and pondering over where it will go, if it will fit and how much room I'll have left over. Everything. Even my trash can. I always had large trashcans in my kitchen before we lived here. Now, I just don't have the space. I've had to change to a smaller trashcan and hated the one I had because it had no lid and it still took up space in the bottom of my pantry. When I came across the simplehuman Cabinet Mount Trash System on the Wayfair website, it was one of those things that I didn't know how much I needed it until I had it. The simplehuman cabinet mount trash system did not disappoint. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this trashcan. I never thought I'd rave about a trashcan! It was simple to install and fits perfectly in my pantry. You can also install it on the cabinet door under your sink or on any door you'd like. I love that it has a place to store all the shopping bags that I was already accumulating and using as trashbags. The bags easily come out of their storage compartment and are simple to hang on the holder. The storage bin holds up to 50 bags which is really convenient. There's also a drip guard that protects your cabinet and floor from leaks and spills. With a five year warranty, this is the only kitchen trash system you'll ever need. After using the simplehuman trash system, I'm intrigued to try their other products."..."  Read more

We are very concerned about the environment and do our best to reduce our waste stream, recycle, and buy products that last. We decided to replace our old plastic kitchen trash can with a steel can to align with our values. We do not use single use liners, but prefer to wash out the can for environmental reasons. We invested a fair chunk of change into two of these cans: one for recycling and one for trash destined for the landfill. We were sad and surprised when the cans came and there were holes in them: four manufactured holes in the back and small gaps on the bottom where the bottom piece doesn't quite reach the side piece. Neither the item description nor the picture made it clear that there were mounting holes. The product is very strong and well-made overall, and we expect the cans to last for many years, however for our purposes, it would be better to have trash cans without holes. We will manage, but this product is not ideal without a liner."..."  Read more

We were planning on putting this in our Kitchen, as we have no good spot to leave the garbage or recycling cans, and we are constantly pushing them around the floor so we can get into a cabinet. Unfortunately these cans are so small, there is no way it will work for us. The trash bin is a 9 gal and the recycling bin is even smaller. About 1/3 smaller than our current 13 gallon bins. If most of your recycling is soda cans or water bottles (esp. if you can crush them first) then this may work for you, but one 1.5L wine bottle literally fills it half way. On the other hand, it is well constructed and has a good slide. We've decided rather then send it back, we'll put it in the cabinet under the bathroom sink. Shampoo bottles & the like should fit fine in the recycling bin, and the garbage bin is only slightly larger than the one we already have in the cabinet."..."  Read more
