I use this product in my kitchen and it works great! Before this, we had an automatic trash can - you know the kind that use batteries. Well, we had all kinds of issues with it so I thought I would try this trash can. It's been great not having to deal with batteries dying, or the lid closing before I'm ready for it to close. The lid on this trash can slowly closes and you have plenty of time to get your trash into the trash before it closes. It's great not using my hands to touch the trash can. I was looking for a stainless steel trash can for my kitchen. Seems these days, you "get what you pay for". Though on the "pricey" side, I decided to treat myself to a quality product, instead of dishing out additional money for a cheaply made can in a few years. The semi-round fits nicely into my small kitchen. Because it is a large capacity (for one person), it does tend to hold the stink of garbage. If I threw out my trash more often, that would solve the problem. At first, I thought something was wrong with the step-on pedal that opens the lid. When I read the brochure, I realized that it was a "quiet-close" system, and that the pedal lowers the top slowly and quietly. Now I feel like a big shot! :)There is no need to purchase the accompanying trash can liners, although they do fit this can perfectly. It's a trash can, but what's nice is that the bag stays on when the lid is opened. The mechanism for the top does not interfere with the bag at all, which is common on less expensive cans of the style. I love the new trash can because it looks great in my kitchen, the lid keeps the garbage smell to a minimum, the removable bin makes it easy to empty the trash, and it's easy to open/close with the foot pedal. The only thing is, I thought it was a 13-gallon trash can, but it ended up being a 10 gal can.
