Generally very good, but there is a piece that goes along the top of the back panel to which the hardware is to attach. This piece is poorly attached with flimsy staples/pins. The hinge and lid are to attach to this. We had to buy longer screws that would go deeper into the back and drill past this top piece for stability of the lid. I don't know why this piece was even added. The rest of the chest is very solid and sturdy, very large, and nice looking.
