The Bemis Color Direct Kit is a bit pricey but incredibly worth it if you have a colored toilet, especially if you have one that is no longer in production. For these older fixtures it is nearly impossible to find out the name of the color you have -- even from the manufacturer themselves. I contacted American Standard, the manufacturer of our toilet, to find out the color of our 25+ year old toilet so I could order a replacement seat. I then went ahead and got the Color Direct kit anyway, just to be sure, and lo and behold -- the American Standard rep had told me the wrong color!! The Color Direct kit from Bemis saved the day and saved me from one expensive mistake. I've already recommended it to several people and would not hesitate to use it again myself.
Oh and the seat -- it is a Bemis 1200SLOWT plastic slow-close seat and we are very happy with it. I like that I don't have to worry about the finish wearing off like with the "wooden" seats (which aren't real solid wood but are actually wood flakes solidified in resin and glue). The lighter lid and slow-close feature are wonderful to have with small children around, and the seat is very easy to install as well. Highly recommended."..." Read more
