We have owned our Breville CT70XL Ikon 2-Slice Toaster for nearly a year. It works flawlessly and once you evaluate what level of toasting fits the type of "toastable" that you're inserting into the machine, you end up with a perfect result every time. The toaster automatically "sleeps" itself when not in use and the buttons and handles are very solid and well made. Super cute toaster. And I love that it comes with the random placemat and napkins. I had this delivered to family on the mainland, and for that reason I am not able to give firsthand information, but I'd like to share an excerpt from their thank you note as a form of review. The note read; "Thanks for the amazing and gorgeous high-fashion toaster! We definitely needed an upgrade."Clearly they are pleased, but since I have not seen the toaster in action, and I have only their comments on the aesthetics, I have given four stars instead of five. I love the look of this toaster, and when mine dies I am hoping to get one for myself. Unfortunately my current toaster refuses to die, and until it does I cannot justify the expense. :-)"..." Bought this as a gift for a woman and she reports that she's very pleased with it. I tried a couple slices of bread in it and was a bit alarmed as they came out with white lines in them from toaster rack, and the heating elements did not heat evenly on one slot which left the bread with a very dark brown area near the edge of one side and one side obviously browner than the other.
This may be due to the bread being somewhat dried out. (son can't seem to be bothered to close bread bag.) But it would have been unacceptible for me, especially in light of how many reviews cited this toaster for how evenly it browned the bread.
It has a handy pop up wire things to place anythig you'd like to warm up without toasting above the slots, and accomdates bagels as well, though I haven't tried any yet. Has a clean out "drawer" that is really just a very small bit of metal that you can slide out. It has nearly no "walls" to it so I imagine you'd have to clean it quite regularly.
It looks nice in that it doesn't look like a typical toaster, and seems well put together.
And as long as the receipient is happy with it, I'm satisfied."..." Read more
