We purchased the 8” inch version in blue. As far as having an inexpensive futon mattress goes- this one does the job Updated review after 2 months of use: it was great brand new but after two months the side of the mattress we sit on is now about 3 inches thick. So I would not recommend if you intend this for a lot of use. It’s probably fine in a guest room that doesn’t get sat on very much. I've only had it two days. I've barely sat on it (no complaints) but I've slept both nights comfortably. It is firm. I think the fabric has a nice feel and the backside reminds me of a baby's car seat, which does seem to keep the mattress from sliding around. It's construction leaves me disappointed. While I appreciate that it can be disassembled for cleaning, I believe you will mostly destroy it and best plan on purchasing some new batting to replace the "Blended Cotton Felt" that makes up a whopping 84% of this product. Not what I expected but will do the trick as a spare bed for guests. I purchased the grey futon mattress for a frame that I got elsewhere. It is full size and the fit is perfect.
