My A/V system that utilizes this Plateau SR-V 75 are Samsung LN55A950 LCD with Polk Audio CSi5 center channel speaker, Monster Power HTS 5100 S/S Power Conditioner Stage 4, Yamaha A/V RV-2500 receiver, Panasonic DMP-BD55 Blu-Ray Player, and DirecTV HD DVR Model HR22 receiver. The height of my center channel is what prompted me to buy this Plateau TV stand. It is the ONLY one in the market today that can house my masive center channel speaker. I'll rank my review of this stand by giving it a scale of 1 star to 5 star (5 star being best).Fit and finish - 4.5 star (very nice luster and feel-to-touch on the cabinet)Price to quality ratio - 4 star (see comment below)Quality of Construction - 3.5 star (For the price that I paid, I had to go to [...]hardware store to buy and use 1-1/2" long corner brackets (galvanize color) for the 2 center vertical dividers to solidify and stabilize the entire packaged unit. Drill and install the corner brace about 1" away in the back side edge/corners of the TV stand so that it is not visible from the front. This distance will still allow you to properly install all 3 back cover panels. Without it, the TV stand is flimsy. The wooden dowels are not adequate enough to prevent the movement of the stand from side-to-side. If you have an expensive A/V receiver like Denon's AVR-5308, or Pioneer Elite's VSX-94TXH, or Yamaha's RX-Z7, etc, do not bother installing the back cover panel where your A/V receiver resides. There is too much heat coming off from these receivers coupled with inadequate amount of ventilation from the back cover panel.Bottom line, I will still recommend buying this TV stand but buy when it is discounted and don't forget to get to pick up the corner brace from your local hardware store."..."  Read more

Higher than most standard "media" stands but perfect for us because we have young kids & with the layout of our furniture it would have been a hassle to constantly point the remote downward to change the channel. And it's not too high where it can be uncomfortable (my friend has her tv mounted above her fireplace, but after looking up for a while my neck gets sore :) Perfect sz for our 42 in. flat screen tv. Finish goes great w/our our other dark wood furniture. Plenty of storage. Right now we're only using 1 shelf for the cable box, but there are 3 more shelves for storage. Very easy to assemble, 1 small scratch but you have to literally be standing next to the unit, looking for imperfections to notice it. The stand holds our 63" Samsung Plasma like a champ. Is more contemorary than many stands, love the look. I am a shopper and looked at literally thousands of stands anywhere in price from $299.00 and up. I was ready to pull the trigger on a stand that cost $1600.00 on sale. It was beautiful.Needless to say, I can't really compare this stand to that one, but was a good compromise with my wife $$$. I must say, more impressed than expected for the price. This would be a better deal than the other stand, although I was getting that stand for half off retail.For what we got for the money, great quality and a good looking piece of furniture (big difference), I give it 5 Stars. The TV stand was easy for me to assemble by myself and it looks absolutely gorgeous. It fits my apartment perfectly. I was looking for a TV stand that would be easy to set up and transport when moving to another place. This isn't it. The frame isn't a problem but the wonderful tempered glass shelves are heavy. Not an issue if you don't intend to move it. Additionally, I like to store my DVDs on the TV stand shelves and while the top shelf is tall enough for a DVD to stand on end, it's blocked by the wood face covering the top half of that shelf.
