We needed a small stand to place next to our fireplace to hold our cable box, DVD player, and store movies. We had mounted our TV over the fireplace and this stand works perfect for our needs. It was easy to put together and looks very nice. I don't think it would be very high for a TV stand unless you don't mind it being closer to the floor. We like viewing at a higher level.
