TV Stands

I purchased this stand for use with a 63 inch television and several components. First, I did not assemble the unit personally, but instead had two professionals do so for me. I was in the room the entire time and can say that it took them about an hour working at a leisurely pace while we talked about numerous topics. For them, this was not a difficult assembly. I had them mount the television on the included mount at the highest position. The height of the TV is just shy of 36 inches and when mounted left approximately 4 inches to the top shelf. This was not sufficient for my 7 inch high center channel speaker. You could place components there whose heights are less than approximaetly 4 inches. However, modification of the stand to raise it was not particularly difficult. In essence, they moved the mount from its position on the floor and raised it several inches up to the next bolt holes. The remaining holes match up perfectly. Slightly concerned this might make the stand a little top-heavy(my TV weighs 88 pounds)because the mount is no longer on the floor, they used L brackets to attach the rear of the stand to the floor. This arrangement provides great stand stability and gives complete usage of the top shelf. Although the TV is a little higher than ideal eye level, the stand allows a 15 degree tilt and by using that feature, it sits almost perfectly while allowing the center channel speaker to rest directly beneath it creating very realistic dialog. It can also swivel in either direction. This stand is of good quality materials. Glass shelves are of 3 different thickness levels with the top glass being thicker and the bottom, which has support from the base being the thinnest. Support for all shelves could be improved somewhat but should not be a problem if weight limits are observed. In addition to that concern these are other areas where improvement is needed: the shelves are not deep enough to accommodate medium to large AV receivers (or other similarly sized components)-they will hang out over the front edge. Further, the height between the shelves needs to be increased. If you intend to place any component higher than 6 and 3/4 inches on the bottom shelf, fergettaboutit. Middle shelf will give you between 7 and 9 inches of height depending on whether the component is placed against or behind the front ledge. You should have no problems (space wise) with DVD players, satellite receivers or components less than 18 inches in depth. Overall, an attractive and functional stand of good quality, including nice features (several mounting options, tilt and swivel ability). But you need to carefully measure your components and TV and decide how you wish to mount it before ordering this stand. Although I measured when ordering I was surprised to see how large this was once it was assembled. What an awesome piece of furniture for the money! It's quite sturdy and seems well made, certainly well enough for holding large flat screen TV's. My son actually uses it for a large flat screen computer monitor which he uses while sitting on the edge of his bed. The screen is at the perfect height for use with his Wacom Tablet, so his neck is happy. We also got the matching desk which butts up against the TV stand and makes an L-shaped work station for him. The desk is higher than the stand which is perfect for him. He stores his computer tower, etc...under the desk. The TV stand has some nice cubbyholes and drawers for his other electronic needs. It has been very useful. We have had it for over a month now. The only cons I can think of are the difficult assembly. It wasn't complicated just time consuming and heavy. It took 2 people. The other thing is the fact that the back is not finished. In our case the back is the first thing you see when you walk into the room. It would have been nice to have that be black to match. There are also holes in the back which are obviously necessary. I think I would have positioned them a little lower. That's about it for negatives. Overall I am very pleased to find something this big and sturdy, in the correct color and with matching furniture, for the price it was offered."..."  Read more

I purchased the Bedford Entertainment Stand from Racks & Stands to house A/V components for a multi-media room I built in my formerly unfinished basement. The Stand is well-package with foam and foam sleeves between each piece, but suffered some damage in transit. Fortunately, the damaged pieces were able to be fixed with a little wood glue and black spray paint, and are located in the back or underneath the Stand, so they aren't visible when the Stand is fully assembled. Another thing to note is that the locking cams are made of a white metal that breaks easily if overtightened. Since the cams hold the Stand together, it's important that they be tight for stability. The manufacturer includes extra parts, includng a cam, so you can break one without worry. Assembly was easy, following the manufacturer's diagram, and only required a Phillips screwdriver and a rubber mallet to tap the parts into place. Since the knobs are a focal point, I upgraded the provided knobs with higher-quality knobs from my local home improvement store for $10. There are holes in the lower portion of the back of the Stand for running cable. I'm not sure if I can run cable from the top shelf down through this hole, since the top shelf extends to the back, so it may be necessary to bore holes in the upper portion of the back of the Stand to accomodate cables for top shelf components. Not a big deal. In light of the minor repairs, it took a little more than 2 hours to assemble. Once assembled, the result is a stylish and functional piece of furniture that has the look of furniture costing hundred of dollars more. All things considered, this Stand is a very good value for the money. Since my LCD is on the wall, and the Stand is doing nothing more than housing components, I can see it lasting for years to come."..."  Read more

I searched the internet, retail, and wholesale stores for a TV stand for my 55 flatscreen TV in Rhode Island. I found a beautiful one at Wayfair (www.tvstands.com). I was so pleased that I helped my sister-in-law order one for her flatscreen TV She was so pleased that I helped her daughter order a TV stand for her home. Then when I arrived at our winter residence in Florida, I immediately ordered the Castillo Corner Wood TV console for my 42 flatscreen TV . Now I am about to help my parents find and order one for their condo.
