I purchased this stand for use with a 63 inch television and several components. First, I did not assemble the unit personally, but instead had two professionals do so for me. I was in the room the entire time and can say that it took them about an hour working at a leisurely pace while we talked about numerous topics. For them, this was not a difficult assembly. I had them mount the television on the included mount at the highest position. The height of the TV is just shy of 36 inches and when mounted left approximately 4 inches to the top shelf. This was not sufficient for my 7 inch high center channel speaker. You could place components there whose heights are less than approximaetly 4 inches. However, modification of the stand to raise it was not particularly difficult. In essence, they moved the mount from its position on the floor and raised it several inches up to the next bolt holes. The remaining holes match up perfectly. Slightly concerned this might make the stand a little top-heavy(my TV weighs 88 pounds)because the mount is no longer on the floor, they used L brackets to attach the rear of the stand to the floor. This arrangement provides great stand stability and gives complete usage of the top shelf. Although the TV is a little higher than ideal eye level, the stand allows a 15 degree tilt and by using that feature, it sits almost perfectly while allowing the center channel speaker to rest directly beneath it creating very realistic dialog. It can also swivel in either direction. This stand is of good quality materials. Glass shelves are of 3 different thickness levels with the top glass being thicker and the bottom, which has support from the base being the thinnest. Support for all shelves could be improved somewhat but should not be a problem if weight limits are observed. In addition to that concern these are other areas where improvement is needed: the shelves are not deep enough to accommodate medium to large AV receivers (or other similarly sized components)-they will hang out over the front edge. Further, the height between the shelves needs to be increased. If you intend to place any component higher than 6 and 3/4 inches on the bottom shelf, fergettaboutit. Middle shelf will give you between 7 and 9 inches of height depending on whether the component is placed against or behind the front ledge. You should have no problems (space wise) with DVD players, satellite receivers or components less than 18 inches in depth. Overall, an attractive and functional stand of good quality, including nice features (several mounting options, tilt and swivel ability). But you need to carefully measure your components and TV and decide how you wish to mount it before ordering this stand. You really don't want to have to struggle with sending this 118 pound behemoth back because it won't accommodate your stuff. [...]"..."  Read more

Although I measured when ordering I was surprised to see how large this was once it was assembled. What an awesome piece of furniture for the money! It's quite sturdy and seems well made, certainly well enough for holding large flat screen TV's. My son actually uses it for a large flat screen computer monitor which he uses while sitting on the edge of his bed. The screen is at the perfect height for use with his Wacom Tablet, so his neck is happy. We also got the matching desk which butts up against the TV stand and makes an L-shaped work station for him. The desk is higher than the stand which is perfect for him. He stores his computer tower, etc...under the desk. The TV stand has some nice cubbyholes and drawers for his other electronic needs. It has been very useful. We have had it for over a month now. The only cons I can think of are the difficult assembly. It wasn't complicated just time consuming and heavy. It took 2 people. The other thing is the fact that the back is not finished. In our case the back is the first thing you see when you walk into the room. It would have been nice to have that be black to match. There are also holes in the back which are obviously necessary. I think I would have positioned them a little lower. That's about it for negatives. Overall I am very pleased to find something this big and sturdy, in the correct color and with matching furniture, for the price it was offered."..."  Read more

We bought the TV stand to fit our 55" TV. The stand is built solidly and holds our hefty TV without wobbling or insecurity. The color is quite sleek and the look is very finished. There's no scuffing in the finish or uneven appearance. The glass is shaded so if you're looking for something to semi hide your shelving, this is your pick! There is lots of space! The shelves are deep and there's six of them. You can adjust the height of them (we picked centered across). The stand looks exactly as pictured. The height is a great size. The backing doesn't come all the way to the top, but it's good for threading wires through and you can't see it from sitting on a sofa. The not so great: I'd have loved this stand to be more elegant and rounded, but it's beautiful to look at and it's exactly what we bought and paid for. As it stands now, that's the best complaint I can have about this purchase. In closing, I think the stand is a great value for the price (we got it on sale, I'm new to the site and I don't know if the site has these sale prices year round). I'm very happy with the features of the stand as well as how sturdy it is. It doesn't seem like flimsy build-it-kits you can buy. The best part? My A/V system that utilizes this Plateau SR-V 75 are Samsung LN55A950 LCD with Polk Audio CSi5 center channel speaker, Monster Power HTS 5100 S/S Power Conditioner Stage 4, Yamaha A/V RV-2500 receiver, Panasonic DMP-BD55 Blu-Ray Player, and DirecTV HD DVR Model HR22 receiver. The height of my center channel is what prompted me to buy this Plateau TV stand. It is the ONLY one in the market today that can house my masive center channel speaker. I'll rank my review of this stand by giving it a scale of 1 star to 5 star (5 star being best).Fit and finish - 4.5 star (very nice luster and feel-to-touch on the cabinet)Price to quality ratio - 4 star (see comment below)Quality of Construction - 3.5 star (For the price that I paid, I had to go to [...]hardware store to buy and use 1-1/2" long corner brackets (galvanize color) for the 2 center vertical dividers to solidify and stabilize the entire packaged unit. Drill and install the corner brace about 1" away in the back side edge/corners of the TV stand so that it is not visible from the front. This distance will still allow you to properly install all 3 back cover panels. Without it, the TV stand is flimsy. The wooden dowels are not adequate enough to prevent the movement of the stand from side-to-side. If you have an expensive A/V receiver like Denon's AVR-5308, or Pioneer Elite's VSX-94TXH, or Yamaha's RX-Z7, etc, do not bother installing the back cover panel where your A/V receiver resides. There is too much heat coming off from these receivers coupled with inadequate amount of ventilation from the back cover panel.Bottom line, I will still recommend buying this TV stand but buy when it is discounted and don't forget to get to pick up the corner brace from your local hardware store."..."  Read more
