I purchased this stand for use with a 63 inch television and several components. First, I did not assemble the unit personally, but instead had two professionals do so for me. I was in the room the entire time and can say that it took them about an hour working at a leisurely pace while we talked about numerous topics. For them, this was not a difficult assembly. I had them mount the television on the included mount at the highest position. The height of the TV is just shy of 36 inches and when mounted left approximately 4 inches to the top shelf. This was not sufficient for my 7 inch high center channel speaker. You could place components there whose heights are less than approximaetly 4 inches. However, modification of the stand to raise it was not particularly difficult. In essence, they moved the mount from its position on the floor and raised it several inches up to the next bolt holes. The remaining holes match up perfectly. Slightly concerned this might make the stand a little top-heavy(my TV weighs 88 pounds)because the mount is no longer on the floor, they used L brackets to attach the rear of the stand to the floor. This arrangement provides great stand stability and gives complete usage of the top shelf. Although the TV is a little higher than ideal eye level, the stand allows a 15 degree tilt and by using that feature, it sits almost perfectly while allowing the center channel speaker to rest directly beneath it creating very realistic dialog. It can also swivel in either direction. This stand is of good quality materials. Glass shelves are of 3 different thickness levels with the top glass being thicker and the bottom, which has support from the base being the thinnest. Support for all shelves could be improved somewhat but should not be a problem if weight limits are observed. In addition to that concern these are other areas where improvement is needed: the shelves are not deep enough to accommodate medium to large AV receivers (or other similarly sized components)-they will hang out over the front edge. Further, the height between the shelves needs to be increased. If you intend to place any component higher than 6 and 3/4 inches on the bottom shelf, fergettaboutit. Middle shelf will give you between 7 and 9 inches of height depending on whether the component is placed against or behind the front ledge. You should have no problems (space wise) with DVD players, satellite receivers or components less than 18 inches in depth. Overall, an attractive and functional stand of good quality, including nice features (several mounting options, tilt and swivel ability). But you need to carefully measure your components and TV and decide how you wish to mount it before ordering this stand. After looking at several "big box" stores and doing an exhaustive Internet search for a TV stand for our 60" flat screen TV, we decided on this model, and are extremely happy with the purchase. The price was the same or less than some decidedly homely and cheap-looking 60" units seen elsewhere, and the design is possibly the most elegant, practical, and unobtrusive we found anywhere. The sleek, simple lines, glass doors, and metal feet fit well with our mid-century modern decor, there's plenty of space for components, setup was straightforward, and construction/materials very solid for a unit in this price range. I can't think of anything I don't like about it, except perhaps that the black finish does show dust easily, but that's sort of a given. In short, we love this TV stand (as much as one can love a piece of furniture) and are really glad we didn't settle for any of the other TV stands we looked at before we found this one."..."  Read more

My A/V system that utilizes this Plateau SR-V 75 are Samsung LN55A950 LCD with Polk Audio CSi5 center channel speaker, Monster Power HTS 5100 S/S Power Conditioner Stage 4, Yamaha A/V RV-2500 receiver, Panasonic DMP-BD55 Blu-Ray Player, and DirecTV HD DVR Model HR22 receiver. The height of my center channel is what prompted me to buy this Plateau TV stand. It is the ONLY one in the market today that can house my masive center channel speaker. I'll rank my review of this stand by giving it a scale of 1 star to 5 star (5 star being best).Fit and finish - 4.5 star (very nice luster and feel-to-touch on the cabinet)Price to quality ratio - 4 star (see comment below)Quality of Construction - 3.5 star (For the price that I paid, I had to go to [...]hardware store to buy and use 1-1/2" long corner brackets (galvanize color) for the 2 center vertical dividers to solidify and stabilize the entire packaged unit. Drill and install the corner brace about 1" away in the back side edge/corners of the TV stand so that it is not visible from the front. This distance will still allow you to properly install all 3 back cover panels. Without it, the TV stand is flimsy. The wooden dowels are not adequate enough to prevent the movement of the stand from side-to-side. If you have an expensive A/V receiver like Denon's AVR-5308, or Pioneer Elite's VSX-94TXH, or Yamaha's RX-Z7, etc, do not bother installing the back cover panel where your A/V receiver resides. There is too much heat coming off from these receivers coupled with inadequate amount of ventilation from the back cover panel.Bottom line, I will still recommend buying this TV stand but buy when it is discounted and don't forget to get to pick up the corner brace from your local hardware store."..."  Read more

If you have a 46-50" LCD or plasma TV, this is a great stand (it is approximately 50" wide). It is easy to put together, and is very well built, especially for the price. The tubular frame is powdercoated very nicely and is not too shiny (hence the "matte" finish in the name). The tempered glass shelves are extremely heavy and strong, but are rounded which is nice for looks and if you have young kids (no sharp edges or corners). I put my 46" Sony XBR2 LCD on this stand and it looks like the stand was made for the TV. However, any 46-50" LCD or plasma would look good on it, especially if the TV has a silver bezel or accents. I have gotten many compliments on the stand and it is a steal for the price. There are other stands from other manufacturers which are similar to this one, but cost hundreds more. Finally, there is plenty of room for all of your componments on the bottom two shelves. All in all, I am very happy with this stand and would not hesitate to recommend it."..."  Read more
