Definetly needed the extra leaf as it is quite small without but I was surprised how sturdy and good it looks for the money. Husband put it together in a couple of hours - very easy. The table is nice; however, pay careful attention to the table dimensions-- it appears larger that it actually is looking at the pictures. The chairs are not well constructed; mine have constantly needed adjusting to keep for secure. The wood in one of the chairs lag pieces actually split! Was this helpful? Yes / No
