Very effective In mid-summer, the yellow jacket populations around our house really increases to where they can become a bit of nuisance. In mid-July, I hung one of these traps out in my yard on the limb of a small tree (about 5' off of the ground) with some small pieces of fresh ham in both the top and bottom part of the trap. In less than 6 hours I counted 35 yellow jackets and two large wasps (not sure what species). When I checked it the next morning, there were too many to accurately count and there were still more yellow jackets coming to investigate. In the past, I used the pheromone provided with the product which gave only marginal success - the pheromone bait might rely on what is likely a more variable physiological state of the insect (so timing may be a greater factor here), but with such consistently high metabolic rates needed to fly, their need for food likely remains very high, so I just tried using meat instead; very effective. |

IS THIS A REAL WASP AND HORNET TRAP? MY NEW TRAP WAS PUT TOGETHER, FOLLOWING ALL INSTRUCTIONS; THREE DAYS LATER WE STILL HAVEN'T CAUGHT A THING. MY SON HAD TO SPRAY THE CRITTERS. LMM |
