Part of why I bought this brand and model is that the speakers are fairly large and heavy and deep for book shelf speakers. This brand and model (including the 29 inch height) has a wide and deep) top plate that most others do not have. This brand and model also has a naturally heavy base plate made of cast iron. What VTI could do to improve this model and this series is: 1. Make the base plate thicker (perhaps twice as thick) and solid instead of mostly a shell like it is for extra material = more weight where it is needed at the bottom. 2. Use a mounting template to position the VTI emblems consistently from one stand to the next as they are not even close or straight. 3. Substantially increase the diameter of the holes in the end caps of the legs for pouring lead shot or sand into as they are ridiculously small. You would need a small diameter funnel or straw and lots of time. Here is an idea for VTI for safety concerns: My wife and I have two very young boys who love to sit and play near these stands and the speakers on top of them. I drilled a rectangular pattern of four 7/32 inch diameter holes in each top plate using a carbide or cobalt drill bit as that is the type needed. Before assembling the stands, I turned the speakers upside down and placed the top plates on the bottoms of the speakers where I wanted them, marked the centers of the holes, and drilled four pilot holes into the bottom of each speaker. I then assembled the stands, turned the each one upside down, placed it on top of the bottom of each speaker, and used pan head sheet metal screws to securely fasten each speaker to each stand. I then also inserted a small screw eye into the bottom of each speaker and used several strands of heavy string back and forth to a second large screw eye that got screwed into a stud in the wall as close to each speaker so that neither speaker nor the stand could fall or sway more than one inch. Now my children cannot topple the speakers off of the stands or topple the stands themselves and are fully safe to play and roam around."..." Read more

I spent a month researching surround sound speaker stands. And found these. V.T.I. all metal 36" speaker stands & fell in love!!! Paid alittle bit more for the 36" But I'm glad I got them, they look awesome supporting my Polk Audio RTI 4's!!! Don't worry about filling them up with sand or shot!! I looked all around but the prices were outrageous!!! These stands are high quality & with the weight of the speakers + the " sticky pad" you can be glad to know that they are firmly secure, so no worries. And I have 2 dogs & a new baby in the house! Easy to set up!! My Home Theater is now complete & I LOVE these speaker stands!! "..." Read more

The stands are tall enough to give the right angle for listening. Very solid stands. I adjusted the spikes a little longer in the front to give more angle. You don't want to make the fronts too long which would make the stand a little unstable, especially if you have tall tower speakers. The stand would be best if the manufacturer would have made it 4 spikes (2 in front & 2 in back) instead of 3 (2 front & 1 back). I put B&W 603 series on these stands which are approx 32 inches tall. The stands handle them great. One other minor issue is that the spikes are not pointed enough to pierce carpet and solidly couple to the floor. I ended up making my own since my carpet and pad is relatively thick. This actually helped the stand become more stable. Overall, I like the stands and would buy them again."..." Read more

VTI DF Series Center Channel Speaker Stand VTI

A very well made stand, texture coated in what appears to be a very durable finish. Stand comes with carpet spikes and isolation disks for hardwood floors. Stand angles speaker up just slightly which at my 9 food viewing distance is great for ensuring the speaker is pointed at your head instead of your feet. Center post can be filled with sand. I didnt give this stand a 5 only because I don't have experience with lots of other similar products. This is a very heavy duty speaker stand and for the money I was very happy with my purchase. Assembly tip. Put the unit together but dont tighten itcompletely. Lay the stand on its side so that the flat part of the base and the front edge of the top both rest on a flat surface. This way you know both are even and pointed the same way. Now tighten them up."..." Read more
