This seeems to be the only speaker stand out there with a top plate wider than 6". I needed a large top plate for stability to keep pets from knocking the speakers off. After filling the center posts with dry concrete mix the stands are very stable and tip proof. The picture makes them look cheap but they actually have a nice look to them. If you've ever own speakers with a black veneer finish it is the same. They are very sturdy and use quality MDF material. They take some time to setup since gluing is involved for the plates, but nothing complicated is involved. Overall I'm very happy with the product. I'm surprised they are not more popular.
