Once I had the assembly done, and the speakers attached, these stands are a very nice, elegant looking setup.
That said, the instructions weren't the most user friendly that I've encountered. Especially the segmentally joined plastic pouches containing the hardware pieces. They were labeled, but in no way matched the instruction sheet diagrams which referenced the pieces to be used. This would drive someone not familiar with basic nuts-and-bolts knowledge, crazy! But, through process of elimination, it becomes clear which pieces have to be used, where.
The base units, which sit on the floor basically have not heft, but it's enough for the 6 - 7 lb. speakers I'm using. Also, I wouldn't want to extend the height too much, as just a touch to the speaker, and it teeters back and forth.
