We bought this to be our toddler's first "big boy" bed because of its proximity to the ground. We were disappointed to discover it was made of flimsy particleboard and cardboard; we expected better quality materials for the price. Also, the bed is too wide for a twin mattress; once we put the mattress on the bed, there was at least 4-5 inches of hard wood sticking out on both sides of the mattress, again making this bed completely unsuitable for a small child. Also, the corners near the foot of the bed are pretty sharp. The bed is attractive and might be OK for a teen or young adult, but definitely not for a small kid.
