South Shore Newbury Platform Bedroom Collection
Good Value Platform Bed
Sonja from Gates Mills, OH
My Newbury platform bed arrived when expected, and package was very heavy, just as others have said. Husband and I just moved box into doorway to open, then carried individual boards into the room where we wanted to set it up. Instructions were alright, but a little fuzzy in spots. We didn't realize at first that the wood tone blocks were supposed to be used to line up the top frame of bed with the base...we thought it was just packaging supports. But we got bed assembled in a fair amount of time, and it looked good when we finished. Have a 10 inch memory foam mattress on it, and it is extremely comfortable. The frame looks like it might not stand up to rough use, but we have it in a guest bedroom, so for us it is fine. I think I might hesitate if buying for a very active child for daily use, definitely won't bear jumping on bed! Good value for occasional use or respectful child or teen.
Exactly what we wanted.

The ordering process was very simple. The shipping was free and the shipment arrival date was great. We opened the box and the center piece of board was broke in half (it would not be seen) so we went to the local hardware store bought a 1x8 for $7 and fixed it right up. The bed was exactly what we wanted for a guest/grandchild room. We were afraid the particle board would not feel sturdy but it is very sturdy and comfortable with just a mattress on top. The structure was easy to put together and very well engineered for a self assembly product. We have wood floors so we bought some door weather stripping and stuck to the bottom of the bed so that wood did not scratch wood, turned out to be perfect. I would buy another one today if I needed it.

Well when I saw the platform bed on line I was looking for something different. Most people go for the beds that you have to climb into bed sorta speak, I am not that tall so for me having to work hard to get into bed is not my cup of tea. "If you get my drift " lol, lol, Second I really liked the style of the bed and the color to. I like the fact that there were no head board or foot board, and it is solid and it will match my color decor. Also if I choose to buy the head board I can do so later. But for now I am loving my bed a lot . I have already told some of my friends and family about the bed , I have even let my brother-in-law enjoy the bed and he loved it. So if you are looking for a comfortable solid bed this is the one. GO FOR IT you'll love it to!

Item arrived on time. Easy to put together! It took maybe an hour to assemble. The only issue I had was placing the boards so that the overhang on each side was identical. These boards are unmarked, so you definitely have to measure and place the boards manually to ensure accuracy. This was the toughest part, as adjusting the four vertical planks of wood are a challenge to arrange, especially when all of them must only move a distance of a half inch or so. I would recommend this piece, my bed looks awesome. I actually just have a high quality inflatable mattress on it instead of a real mattress, and it is impossible to tell.
Worst screws ever!

I put the bed together today. There are not too many parts, which was nice. When I put the main 'box' together that the platform goes on, it was not square, which made the platform holes not line up properly. All of the black screws used to attach the platform and side rails have the smallest and most shallow phillips holes I have ever seen. Even with an array of drill bits, I could not find one the right size to successfully drive the screws into the particleboard completely. Also, it appears that the metal that the screws are made of is cheap and they strip right away. My suggestion is that you buy or find better screws in your collection; it will make the process go much better. I think the platform itself will be solid enough for the memory foam mattress and sleeping.
Great buy for the money, but a little too long

I bought this frame for TWO TWIN memory foam mattresses (to make a King). The frame was easy to put together, came with the right parts, and each part was labeled clearly. Construction seems sturdy. However, once I put my mattresses on, the frame was too long (you could see the flat wood top layer) by about 6 inches. I'm not sure if this was because I was using two twin mattresses or not, though. I ended up rotating the mattresses sideways and then there was only about a 2-3 inch gap at the end. I plan on making my own headboard and attaching to this frame, so 2-3 inch gap shouldn't be an issue now. Overall, great buy and exactly what I needed.
Newbury Platform Bedroom Collection - bed

This is a nice bed that I bought together with matching nightstand. It is not very high, which is exactly what I wanted for my kids, because they can get in bed very easily, and if they fall by any chance, they can't get hurt. Good quality and not very expensive.
Hard to build, but nice bed!
Beverly from New York, NY– Verified Buyer
Looking at this bed, I had NO idea it would be so heavy. I had to build it by myself, and it was pretty difficult since all the pieces are made out of heavy wood. Once I got the base built (the hardest), I was able to lay the flat pieces for the platform. And either this was a manufacturer error, or it was just the way it was made, but the platforms were really hard to screw into the base because there weren't any holes.. You pretty much just had to screw the flatform straight into the base. As a result, some of the screws popped out of the side of the bed. Luckily, no one can see them... AND the borders to go around the bed have to be screwed in on the bottom AND they didn't have holes... So it was realy difficult screwing the borders from the underside... SO HARD TO BUILD.

Beautiful bed!!!! Easy installation & everything was packaged nicely. Looks great in my bedroom and did I mention it's sturdy. Great purchase!!!!
Finished Product is great but getting there was difficult

I love the bed, but building it was very difficult. There were some missing pre made holes, so I would definitely recommend using a drill. It definitely requires to people to put together, but I would recommend at least one is a handy guy.
