This is the second South Shore platform bed that I've purchased and assembled. Both my 4yr old daughter and 3yr old son sleep on them. The thing I like about them the most is that assembly is very easy. South Shore uses higher quality materials than that popular scandinavian brand, everything lines up very nicely, and the directions are easy to follow. I bought this product because the thought of spending $1,000 on a kids bed didn't appeal to me. This looked very attractive on the web-site - both design and price wise. We received it about 1.5 weeks after the order was placed. Pretty much as described when you order it. I have to agree with all the comments - the bed and nightstand were very easy to assemble. And the instructions are very good. Something to know: - it is NOT made out of wood, so don't expect it to look like one. The general surface is paper-covered - not plastic. Only edges have plastic on them. They warn you in the instructions that it is NOT water stain resistant. - the color "romantic pine" looks in reality pinkish. Having said that, it looks pretty good with pink walls in girl's bedroom. And my daughter adores the ceramic flower handles on the bed and nightstand. WARNING: do not buy a mattress that is higher than 9''. They forgot to mention it on the web-site. I had a big headace because I ordered a 13'' mattress from the web-site. It turned out that if you put it on this bed, the mattress is actually higher than the headboard shelf."..."  Read more

Hi. Thanks for reading this...this is a good bed for the money. When you get the kit it seems kind of chincy, and pretty heavy. The istructions aren't the best I've ever read but, if you take your time and lay out the pieces it all goes together well, and all the hardware was included. I had one problem, the hardware to assemble the back of the drawers were improperly drilled. It was easily fixable with a few finish screws. The drawers also don't fit and sit perfect, but they are on good quality plastic glides and will work for a long time without to much muss and fuss. Don't overload the drawers and they are fine. Once this bed is put together it is great. The finish is nice, the whole look of the bed is pretty good once assembled. For the money this is a great bed. We purchased this bed for our 3 1/2 year old daughter as her first "big girl bed" since her toddler bed and all I can say is that she LOVES it!!!! The bed was easy to put together. The drawers are an added bonus to store books, sheets, etc. The only thing is the drawers are a little hard to push in and out but I am sure over time they will wear in.
