I did it by myself (all 95 lbs of me!) in about 4 hours, so with two people (like it recommends), it would take about half that time. The instructions are pretty thorough and easy to follow. I purchased the South Shore Vito Bookcase Headboard (3119092) in Chocolate and used it freestanding behind without any issue. It matches perfectly (style and color). Another reviewer mentioned the sharp corners and I resolved this by purchasing 4 black foam, 90 degree, 1 inch pipe elbows (couldn't find the clear corner protectors mentioned). These foam elbows come with an adhesive strip on the pointed side (outside of an L shape) of the elbow (which is the opening and is opposite of what you need for the corners), but I simply affixed that adhesive edge first and then cut the opposite edge (the inside of the L) and slipped them on all the corners. They work well, don't detract from the product, and were very inexpensive. You could probably paint them the chocolate color if you wanted, but I didn't find that necessary. Took 3 hours to assemble and it was so difficult, I didn't even bother finishing the platform hardware. Came with a big chip in the wood. Pointy corners, I'm going to get some guards for that!
