I have a 1 bedroom in Manhattan and bought this as the primary sofa in my den. I love the look of the sofa. It never gets sloppy looking. The construction is very good and well-finished. I expect this sofa to look good for at least ten years. Turning it into a sleeper sofa is incredibly easy. Just flip it up and voila! You'd never guess that a sofa so small could turn into a true Queen size sleeper bed. Some minor drawbacks is that it's very firm when you sit on it--more than I'd like. I wouldn't want to spend more than a night or two sleeping on the firm bed. For my guests, I bought an eggcrate foam pad to make their sleep over more comfortable--which seems to compensate for the firmness. Also, when I lie on the sofa and dig my elbows into the cushion when reading, it takes about a half hour for my elbow imprint to go away. Finally, the extra rectangular pillows that I bought in addition to the sofa were cheap quality and not worth the price. The extra pillow material was cheap and the inside was identical to what you'd find in an airline pillow. You'd be better off buying your own somewhere else."..."  Read more

Ok to make a very long story as short as possible, I cannot say enough about my purchase of the Convert A Couch. I ordered a sofa sleeper from a local furniture store, (paid a lot more for it than the convert a couch) they set up delivery right away. They could not get it around the corner down the hallway to the den, so I sent it back. I started thinking about what my options were, the only way was to get something that could be assembled in the room. so I did an internet search - hence the Convert A Couch. Unbelievable fast delivery, price was 13 of what I originally paid at my local furniture store and the quality is amazing. I am sitting on it right now and is completely comfortable. As a bed, way better than a sofa sleeper, as the mattress is thick and like a real mattress, not a thin thing like a sofa sleeper. I bought a pillow top pad for it and my guests rave about the comfort for sleeping. So if you are looking for something for an apartment with issues in getting things through doors, etc, there is hope. the assembly was easy, Handy Living has a website that talks you through the assembly if you are not into reading directions! I purchased the Carlen Sofa sleeper and Love seat combo because they fit the understated decor theme and tight size requirements of my vacation rental unit, the sleeper sofa requirement, matching upholstry, and reasonable pricing. [...] the product is very comfortable, the dibond leather looks great and should be easy to clean, and the sleeper mattress is very comfortable. As wide as the sofa is, it is still not a queen sleeper, but rather a full, with mattress measuring about 52" wide. The length is going to be a problem for folks over 5'11 and sleep fully laid out, but not for those of us who are mid-range and vertically challenged. Just FYI, the couch is darker than it appears in the picture. But we still love it. The directions were vague and did not explain how to unfold the couch into a bed. After calling the manufacturer and waiting 7 hours for them to call me back, I found out that you simply need to pull the back support forward and THEN push back. The couch is firm and for this reason would not let anyone sleep on it for long. But we are mostly going to be using it as a couch, so firmness is good. The only true down-fall, as I see it, is the fact that there is VELCRO on the actual couch itself (to hold the arm-rests in place). If better designed, they would've put the rough velcro on the arm-rests, NOT the bed. All in all, good quality and nice appearance."..."  Read more
