This headboard does not support a person leaning back with a book (at all). Have since personally viewed a tufted headboard of stain-resistant fabric. It was thicker, heavier, looked richer, and was more solid for reading. Thin metal is not superior to wood. Typical bed frame flanges at 4 inches high provide insufficient vertical mounting bolt spacing for this "this product" (tho sufficient for our master-bed wood frame). "If" bracing would work, it should have been included with frame package. May attempt owner customized bracing... but a long shot and at no small trouble or expense.
