You will need a box spring, when I bought it I thought it doesn't need one, so I had to buy it later. I would recommend you buy the head board only, it's almost half the price of the bed, and won't make a difference since you will have a box spring. As for the product, it's Ethan Allen style on a dime. Well constructed, sturdy and attractive. The fabric is beautiful. From opening the boxes to finishing making the bed, it took 2 hours to assemble. I was impressed with the number of leg supports under the frame. I do not feel the same as other posters about needing further wood slabs for support, and this is holding our king size posturepedic memory foam bed (read: heavy). The package was missing one washer but nothing a quick trick to Ace Hardware couldn't remedy. Service Review Regarding service, the bed arrived much earlier than expected. I contacted customer service as the headboard arrived before the rest of the bed and I was not aware at the time the pieces would ship separately. I was a bit disappointed in the overall quality of the bed, I was hoping it was a bit more substantial, but for the money you can not beat it...and that's what I kept telling myself!
