I was looking for a modest wine cabinet to store a few bottles of wine and also have a way to set out cheese and crackers. I am not an avid wine coolector so I don’t need a large custom wine storage cellar.
I had looked at Pottery Barn’s modular units but with the high shipping costs and surcharge, the price was exorbitant. I was also concerned with alignment of three separate pieces placed adjoing each other.
Then I found this on Wayfair. I ordered it miimediately and have not been disappointed. It holds my small wine collection with room to spare, my glasses above the bottles, and the two cabinets provide enough room to store my cheese board, cheese knife block, and serving plates when not in use.
The added advantage of the granite top is that I don’t have to worry about the almost guaranteed to happen spill ruining the wood finish or marring the top. And cleaning is a breeze.
I assembled this cabinet in two hours, by myself, though it is heavy. I recommend that you have a person help you, especially with the granite top, which I smashed a finger installing. It went together fine however, thanks to the detailed instructions which I made sure to read a coupe of times before beginning assembly.
The only problem that I encountered was that one of the four holes drilled into the granite top to hold the posts for attaching it to the cabinet was off by about 38”, making it impossible to secure that post. So I assembled it with that post missing. I plan to get a cabinet maker out to redrill the cabinet side (NOT the top) and then I’ll attach it, but even with just the three posts, that top is not going anywhere.
I’m very pleaed with it, especially since it meets all my needs and then some in a single integrated unit that was nearly half the price (thanks, Wayfair, for the free shipping !) of the other units I was considering. And the black wood finish is perfect as I don’t have to worry about matching the natural wood pieces in my dining area, including Henredon chairs and a Lexington dining table. This unit fits in with those fine, with not even a smacking of Whats THAT doing here"..." Read more
