Handsome looking piece, however I was disappointed that the cardboard back was already coming off; had to re-staple it. I am always amazed, when I buy a new furniture, at the construction of today's furniture. I have mostly antiques in my home, which are all solid wood, including the backs!
This is distressed black with a medium-colored cherry top; looks nice and is not overly distressed. Comes in two pieces, with glass for the doors and sides wrapped separately. You have to insert the glass in the doors and sides, and of course, put in the glass shelves (pins provided for pre-drilled holes), attach the knobs and put the light in (on top) in the existing hole. All very easy to do and no tools required. The drawer (one drawer that looks like two) is a good size, but it has a rather flimsy bottom, so I wouldn't put anything too heavy in the drawer, same for the upper glass shelves. Shelves are probably OK for dishes and such, but I wouldn't put an entire row of heavy books on them.
Behind the two doors on the bottom is one shelf. I haven't finished filling it up yet, but it seems to have a good amount of storage, which is what I was looking for.
I bought this piece for my kitchen because I needed something a very specific size and could not locate an antique for the spot. I like the look, and all-in-all it is OK, but for the price, they could at least have thrown a piece of plywood or mdf on the back instead of cardboard. Despite the cardboard back, I think the rest is sturdy and will last."..." Read more
