You can spend loads more for floating shelves that aren't as nice. The real key to any floating shelve is in what you can't see - and that is how it attaches. These have two large metal arms that extend into the wood rather than the much cheaper systems where it just clips onto a long bar. We made sure to screw into wall studs and the system is very sturdy and lays flat against wall. I got this shelf for my son's room. He loves baseball and I wanted a shelf that would be something he'd keep up after he is a teenager. It was easy to assemble, under 10 minutes. It was easily put up in my son's room. The only issue I have is that it doesn't sit flush agains the wall. I tried to fix it, but I think it might be because of the cips in the back to hold the shelf up. Installed these shelves on a drywall wall and they look elegant and classy. Probably would need to use a different style of shelf for heavy items, However these are holding my nick nacks in the living room. We did need to change the anchors and screws because we installed in drywall and not wood."..."  Read more
