I've owned this piece for over five years (bought at another store). It came assembled, so I can't speak to those issues. But as for the design, it is solid, lovely, elegant; both modern and timeless. It has a prominent place in our living room; is warm but modern; in a mix of other similar pieces it makes the living space in a 105-year old Portland craftsman seem lighter and more contemporary.
