I use both wet and dry applications. The problem with using it in the shower is the considerable risk of dropping it because of a slippery grip. To be safe, use as wet shaver over sink. I don't have a heavy beard and have sensitive skin. This shaver gives me a pretty close shave in 3 minutes, not as close as a blade shave. The sting of applying aftershave is just as bad as wtih a blade. Using it dry leaves me wtih considerable irritation in the throat area, not as bad when used wet.
This shaver is easy to clean and charges quickly. I would still use a blade if I wanted a really close shave for that day. The screen and cutting mechanism could be easily damage by rough handling or dropping. Be careful with it. For my skin type I'm fairly satisfied with this product and will continue to use it.
