I never thought I would WANT to vacuum...This vacuum is awesome! from Carlsbad, CA on 11/07/2015 – Verified Buyer
First off, I just want to say something real quick about Wayfair. This was my first time going on their site, and when I saw they had this vacuum for the same price as Amazon, but with no sales tax, I became a Wayfairer. Not only that, I ordered the vacuum on Friday, they said I would get it Tuesday, then they switched it to Monday, and it showed up SATURDAY!!! No sales tax and it was delivered 3 days earlier than I was originally told. Thank you Wayfair!!

So onto the vacuum review. We have been using an Oreck that we purchased at Costco about 7 or 8 years ago. While the vacuum worked well enough, I didn't realize how much it sucked until I got the Shark (pun intended). I have a 3 bedroom ground floor apartment, 3 girls, and an Australian Shepherd. Our Oreck broke down and almost caught on fire a few days ago, so I was using my shopvac to vacuum. After going over the entire apartment I was amazed/disgusted at how much was in the canister! The suction on this vacuum is at least 3 times stronger than our Oreck was, and it has a canister instead of bags. Just the savings in not buying bags anymore is going to make this vacuum pay for itself. Add to that all of the extra dirt and dander it picks up, and we're not only saving money but also living in a cleaner apartment! Thanks Shark!

Of course my wife would wonder how I could miss the opportunity to point out the negatives (she thinks I enjoy complaining), so I will say my only disappointment so far is the reduced clearance. My Oreck was higher profile, but the bag made it possible to get under tables, beds, and chairs a lot easier. The canister gets in the way, but if you drop the vacuum down low enough it still gets under all my furniture. Not a huge negative, but it is a negative nonetheless.

Pros: Great suction, lots of attachments, bagless, and very fairly priced.
Cons: Clearance under furniture is restricted by canister.

Navigator Lift-Away Professional Plus - Pleasant Surprise from Pennsylvania on 08/27/2015 – Verified Buyer
With a large family and multiple pets, we vacuum very often. We've gone through numerous vacuums over the years and have envied the reviews of such products as the Dyson. But after doing much research, watching comparative videos and reading both reviews and testimonials we focused on the Shark Navigator and Rotator series. Both had all the features we needed. We eventually were able to get a great price on the Navigator Lift-Away Professional Plus through Wayfair. The vacuum was delivered in a reasonable amount of time. It assembles and disassembles for hose and/or lift-away options quickly and easily. The vacuum is very maneuverable and not too heavy considering the canister size and attachments. The suction is great and we've filled the canister twice within 3 weeks without any loss of suction. The canister empties quickly with minimal effort. So far we are very pleased with the Navigator.

Pros: 1) suction 2) maneuverability 3) overall ease of use 4) price
Cons: 1) pet/upholstery attachment uses suction only to spin brushes 2) standing in upright position uses tension only, no physical lock

Love my Shark! from Ogden, UT on 08/06/2014 – Verified Buyer
Oh, honestly this is the best vacuum I have ever had. I love the light weight, easy to handle user friendly handle. It is very easy to empty, no bags to buy which is such a great feature. It comes with attachments that are quick to add and best of all is the swivel head that navigates around and under furniture. I had no idea my rugs were so dirty until I vacuumed the first time with my shark, I was horrified because I thought my house was clean. I emptied it the first time I vacuumed my living/dining room because of so much fuzz from my existing rug, dog hair and dirt. I had my rugs cleaned just a month before but my old vacuum just did not have the suction power of this shark. You will not go wrong!

Awesome! from WV on 10/08/2012 – Verified Buyer
I have been using the Navigator for a couple of months now and am very pleased. It isn't as wide as a regular sized vacuum but that doesn't mean anything! The suction power on this thing is fantastic! There is even a dial around the handle to control the amount of suction being used. I actually had to turn it down to vacuum my carpets!

I love that I can use part of the handle, or the full length of the handle as an extension, as well as take the canister with me and get into the hard to reach places. Having the removable canister with the extension of the handle makes it easy for me to clean the stairs and get in the hard to reach corners of the ceiling. It is very lightweight which makes it easy for me to carry it upstairs. The feature of going from carpet to hardwood at the flip of a switch is great. I also like that when in the upright position the brush stops running which reduces the risk of burning carpet or the motor and I don't have to keep shutting it off every time I need to move something quickly. The swivel head is also a great feature and because it is smaller, I can get further under the furniture than with a regular sized machine. The canister is easy to empty either by the top or the bottom and since it is clear, there is no guessing as to when I need to stop and empty it. The cord length isn't bad at all either.

With my older vacuum, I would use it, then shampoo the carpet. I would always have large clumps of dog hair all over the room. After using the Navigator, while shampooing the carpet, I didn't have one lump of dog hair to pick up which says a lot to me.

Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend this vacuum to others. It really is an all in one machine!

Great product, very powerful vacuum! from Dowagiac, MI on 06/05/2015 – Verified Buyer
I absolutely love this vacuum. It goes from hard floors to carpet in a cinch, and it has no problem at all sucking up every single bit of dirt. I fire this thing up daily, I barely even touch the broom anymore, this is much easier, and more effective!

My husband LOVES the liftaway canister for his car. I love it for reaching all the corners of my home with the crevice tool. The motorized brush is wonderful for pet hair, and everything else.

Pros: Very powerful, no loss of suction, no debris left on hard floors or carpets, moves with ease, love the lift away canister, powerful motorized brush
Cons: haven't discovered one.

My Shark from Louisville, KY on 10/15/2014 – Verified Buyer
I am so satisfied with my new Shark Navigator! For the first time in years my carpet looks new; the color is uniform and absolutely beautiful again. Cleaning the stairs was a simple task and dusting the lampshades was actually fun.
The Shark is very easy to use. I love how the swiveling head makes getting under furniture and around the legs of tables and chairs so effective. I was amazed at how much dirt was hiding in my carpets. I had vacuumed with my old vacuum a couple of days before using the Shark, and couldn't believe how much dirt remained.

I highly recommend using Wayfair to purchase your new vacuum, and hope you chose a Shark Navigator!

Suction is good but functionality could be better from Mount Laurel, NJ on 11/10/2015 – Verified Buyer
I'm fairly happy with the suction of this vacuum, which is impressive because I'd been using our shop vac (super powerful suction) until I got around to ordering a new vacuum. The canister is easy to empty, it even has two openings, on both the bottom and the top. The base of the vacuum is a bit narrower than I'd expect which means that I have to make more passes across the floor as it doesn't cover as much area... this is my fault for not reading the specifications though. My biggest complaint is that the cord wraps onto the removable arm. This means that anytime I want to use an attachment (like the crevice tool, which I want to use often) I have to pull out the entire cord, otherwise I can't detach the hose. The cord is really long, so this is really annoying. My mom has a hoover and the cord and hose are connected separately so the cord can stay on the vacuum while using the hose. Speaking of the hose, the part that is supposed to flex and stretch is VERY stiff, so when I pull on it even a little bit the whole vacuum just falls over.

Pros: good suction
Cons: functionality

Lift away is a great name for this amazing vacuum that lifts away dirt you didn't even realize was there! from Rochester, NY on 11/30/2015 – Verified Buyer
We just renovated our kitchen, and we knew we had drywall dust in our house; just had no idea how much until we put our new Shark to work. After vacuuming just one area rug that appeared clean, the canister was 1/4 full! The rug looked like new again! I love the switch and indicator light when you go from bare floor to carpet. You can hear the difference in the suction power, too. I wish I hadn't waited so long to order it. Fortunately, it arrived BEFORE the scheduled delivery date and was put to use the day it arrived!

Pros: powerful vacuum, easy to maneuver with its swivel head

Better then expected. from Leesburg, FL on 01/22/2016 – Verified Buyer
Did not realize how poor my old vacuum was. Had to replace it because of electrical problems. Best thing that could have happened. I had vacuumed four or five days before the Navigator came in, when I used it I was so surprised to see the great amount of dirt and loose pile the other vacuum left behind. Although I was unhappy that the older vacuum failed, now looking back it was a blessing in disguise. Love this machine.

Pros: Great suction. Light weight. Easy to use. Cleans great, lifts up the pile.
Cons: None.

Try Before You Buy If Possible from Lincolnton, NC on 01/08/2016 – Verified Buyer
First, Wayfair's shipping was extremely quick, three days from placing the order and their return policy is more than fair (much better than many "bricks and mortar" retail establishments, and far better than most online retailers. Their return charges (shipping/handling/restock) for this (heavy) vacuum was about $11.

Now for the product: I've had this unit for less than 24hrs., and I can say that I'm not sure I could be more disappointed by it's design and functionality. Needless to say, the vacuum did not function, even remotely, as expected. Product descriptions (manufacturer's, retailers', written reviews and video reviews) fail to mention that the beater bar will not function in "lift away" mode. The flexible "extension" hose does not extend easily, and flips the vacuum over if using attachments more than about 12 inches from the unit. The unit requires fairly deep bending for multiple operations, including putting it in "lift away" mode, wrapping the cord, changing modes between carpet and bare floor (turning the beater bar on/off), and even turning the unit on/off. I have lower back issues, and this alone renders the unit nonoperational for me. The beater bar stops when the unit is "upright,' which is quite annoying. The "premium pet attachment' functions well enough (within the hose limitations), but sounds like a high powered dentist drill, and dentist drill sounds are not appreciated much in my household. The power cord can easily dislodge the dusting attachment from it's "on board" mount. The "on board" mount does not accept the "premium pet attachment." If you'd rather carry that one on board, you're out of luck. Despite it's relatively good ability to suck stuff off the carpet (some bare floor "dirt" can be a challenge), this vacuum is the worse purchase I've made in years. Descriptions and reviews of these types of units need to be usage focused so that consumers can make informed decisions and avoid inconvenient (often costly) return situations.

Pros: -Easy to assemble -Sucks stuff off carpet -Seems relatively well made -Hose connections seem leak free
Cons: -"Lift away" mode disables beater bar "attachment" -Dentist drill sounding pet brush -Many functions require bending -Extension hose doesn't extend -Attachment "tree" not universal -Heavy
