Good Product-Great Value
Mary from Temecula
I'm very happy with the one bookcase we have already put together. It took my husband about 3 1/2 hours, but he said it was not bad and expects that the second one will go a bit faster since he's now familiar with it. The price was spot on for what I wanted to spend and the quality is quite nice and not cheap looking. The drawer is a nice addition for style and a bit extra storage space and it is the full width across which is nice, a feature I specifically wanted, although it may have taken up some room from the bottom storage behind the drawers. If the shelf is used, you can store 2 rows of books a bit taller than paperbacks, but it will not fit standard Notebooks. Leave the shelf out and Notebooks will fit in one row on the bottom behind the doors.

We just got this shelf yesterday and we already love it! It's so deep, I'm very excited to see how many of my knick-knacks I can fit into it. It did take a while to put together but fellow purchasers put that in the reviews, so I was prepared. The instructions are very detailed but hilarious! Be sure to read it all for best construction, they even suggest a nacho break :) Even though it took a long time to put together I felt that the pieces and hardware are very durable and everything attached securely. Since it is not real wood you can tell that the "distressing" is not real but I love the look of it. The color is very off-white so it might not be the right fit if you're looking for a bright white. So far we love it and it fits perfect in our "new" living room :)

I have written a review for the matching 5 shelf book case... we bought one of these and two of the 5-shelf cases to line up together against the wall. These book cases are really heavy, sturdy pieces. Took about an hour for each case to be assembled, but it was easy enough. The shelves are very deep with really thick, heavy boards to support whatever it is you want to display up there. I don't foresee these shelves bowing like our old book case did with the weight of my 100,000 books and decorations. Be aware though, the picture shows the cases as more white than they actually are. We found that they were more of an off-white creamy color. More true to the "antiqued" color they are described to be.
Great Looking Functional

I ordered 3 of these because I wanted the doors to hide less sightly items behind. I bought the matching desk set. You can purchase 3 of these narrow shelving units as a set, but the set is comprised of 1 unit like this, with the doors, and 2 units of just shelves. So, I simply bought 3 of these. They are flat on the sides, so they simply fit flush, one next to the other. You could line up as many as you need. But I only have wall space for 3.
Good value for the price

I was pleasantly surprised to find the quality was better than those buy and assemble bookcases found in Target or Walmart. The pieces felt solid and sturdy. I assembled the entire bookcase by myself (49 year old woman here) and the only thing I had trouble with were the drawer knobs. It took some muscle to tighten the screws. Other than that, it wasn't very difficult to assemble at all.
Product Exceeds Expectations

This was perfect. I have been looking for something like this for months. I bought two. One for the family room and one for the dining room. In the family room I used it to store my DVDs in the enclosed shelf below; the remote controls in the pull out drawer in the middle; the cable box, DVD player, and Playstation along with some knick knacks in the open shelves above. In the kitchen, I used the bottom enclosed shelf for storage, the middle pull out drawer for utensils, and the shelves above for dining room things. This even had more space than I anticipated.

I bought a pair of these for my beach themed room. They were a challenge for my handyman to assemble, and even when he was done, the louvered doors don't quite meet when closed. Other than that, this is a very spacious and sturdy piece that will be highly functional for storage and very attractive as well. Choose the placement carefully, because even when empty, it weighs over 100 lbs. This thing is not tipping over onto anyone, that's for sure!
Creamy peach color - worked out fine
Nga from Houston, TX– Verified Buyer
For those of you looking for a cream colored bookcase in the white family shade, you might want to look elsewhere. Luckily for us, the light creamy peach color fit our décor just fine. This is a very well made piece and the instructions that came with it are very thorough. It does take a while to put together, and my husband took 2 evenings to assemble it (we do have 2 small children with early bedtimes and hammering has to be done at selective times!). The drawer slides out very smoothly and there is plenty of storage space. We are very happy with our purchase!

I bought two of these along with the tv stand and created a unit out of the three pieces. Because there is no overhang on the sides, these can go right up against each other and therefore look like a unit.
Lovely to look at, but a nightmare

This is still sitting in the box on my floor since the two main boards are cracked. I ordered three units (2 bookcases and one with doors) for my kitchen. Other reviewers are right, this is very antiqued and not white. That's OK with me, but I did think it would be lighter in color. Of the three, only one could be assembled right away since there were so many broken, cracked or chipped pieces. Sauder does send you replacements without question (hmmm), but it did mean two of these giant heavy things were in my front room for days on end waiting for assembly and parts. I'm sorry I bought these. I knew they were particleboard, but it seems like their veneer is especially cheap. I'm afraid how they how they will wear over time, afraid to bump into them lest they chip or mar. They are a beautiful design and look, but just NOT worth the hassle. I should have saved up my money and spent twice as much for 100x better product.
