Looks like high end, real wood shelving... very nice.

For the price I paid, I expected this to look like a cheap old Sauder piece and nothing like the photo. What I ended up with, however, was very surprising. The photo is spot on, and they look like VERY nice pieces of furniture. I got the "estate black" color, which is a dark brown color bordering on black, not quite a complete black. They look very nice, and I would have expected to pay at least several times as much for something to look this nice, they definitely look like real wood pieces - the trim pieces added on make it look fantastic. The only caveat I have is that when you nail on the back piece, line it up well and take your time. On one of them I didn't, and although you can't see it from the front, it bothers me a bit seeing it from the back. They come in flat boxes and you have to assemble them, but it's pretty easy. I'd say it took me 15 to 20 minutes total, but I am meticulous in making sure all the hardware is there and lining those bits up with the instructions, so I don't get to the end and find I'm missing a screw or something crucial. The hardware comes all lumped together in one bag, so probably the most annoying part is just sorting it out. Once you do that, it's really fast. The pieces come with labels, just a bit of paying attention to where nail holes are is all you need. I didn't need a second person to assist. It comes with the standard L-shaped tool to use, but you'll also need a hammer (to nail on the back, if you're going to use it) and a phillips screw driver. I use them in my home office to hold law books and they look stunning - I purchased two of them together. Also, the shipping was phenomenal, I had them at my house less than 24 hours from when I ordered them. Wow! I will recommend these to anyone looking for nice book shelves.
Better then expected! I Love It!!

I ordered the Cherry color but worried it would be too light. It wasn't and it's the perfect color. It is actually a medium to dark cherry and not as light as the picture shows. It was also a nice quality for the price as other reviewers wrote. It was fairly easy to put together with only a few stumbling blocks that were easily fixed. The trim pieces were not labeled and we put the bottom board on wrong so the bracket holes were opposite and we had to switch it. Otherwise it went quick. The only downfall is the back board is a heavy cardboard folded in three sections, but like another reviewer suggested I ran a brown sharpie over the lines when it was nailed in place and you can't see the folds at all. Upside is the cardboard was easy to cut for a media cord opening. Overall I am totally satisfied and highly recommend this product.
Attractive for price Quality needs improvement

I'm happy with it overall... it does the job and looks decent. :) Bought it due to size, price, and the fact that it matches my desk (same Sauder estate black line). I particularly like the molding on the front top and bottom. However, I did have a couple of minor issues: top piece was cracked when I received it so I had to call Sauder directly for a replacement and had to wait an additional week for it which was a little annoying because I couldn't build it without that piece. Also be cautious when nailing the board on back, I accidentally started hammering in a nail too close to the top and it created a tiny crack on the top piece (my fault, but if quality was better it may not have cracked so easily). I feel it leans back a little also (visible from the side view) as another customer mentioned but I'm not sure if my carpeted floor has anything to do with that because there are no legs on the bookcase it just sits directly on the floor. Not sure.

This is a very attractive bookcase. It was relatively easy to assemble, holds a LOT of books and is a nice looking piece of furniture. I have only two complaints. The backing "board" is really cardboard. It arrives folded in the box. It looks VERY cheap, as the creases show clearly in the light. This is such a nice looking bookcase otherwise, the back really detracts from its appearance. I personally took off the supplied back and replaced it with bead board. There was also a spot of damage in the wood finish on the top of the bookcase, but it is very far to the back and easy to disguise. Those two reasons are why I did not give it five stars. Pros: Classic style, holds a lot of books. Cons: Cheap cardboard back.

I have been looking for a nice looking 2-shelf cherry wood finish bookcase for over a year and each one I have found was cheap looking in every way! Not this one, it looks great and much nicer than the price would make you think. I did have one small issue with a crack in the top, but a new one was shipped immediately with no questions asked. Great product and even better service and support!
Almost Perfect- Very Nice

This is a lovely bookshelf. I put it together myself using the easy to follow directions. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 only because I could not get one corner to line up perfectly and the back panel is not as flush as I would like it to be. These are extremely minor details that no one else will notice and do not take way from the function or look. If I had another set of muscles to help me when I put it together, it might have made a difference. Overall, this is a sturdy, classic, nice looking bookshelf and I would buy it again.
Bookcase in Cherry
Julie from MO. – Verified Buyer
I bought this bookcase for my office to go with my Cherry desk. I didn't want anything that big, so this fits perfect. It's easy to put together & the wood is very pretty. The price is great, considering it looks like an expensive piece. Yes, I would recommend this one!
Nice looking and just the right size

The color is true to the picture. The bookcase is sturdy with nice details in the top and bottom. I like that it sits directly on the floor to prevent dust bunnies collecting. Looks good in my home office. The backing is cardboard. Looks fine from the front but a thin strip of gray is visible on the back edge. It is not really that noticeable but I think I'm going to use a furniture marker to color it to blend better.

I ordered three of these bookcases in black for a space under my windows. They were easy to assemble and they fit together perfectly and create a unified look. I am very happy with the quality for the cost.
Best Value for the Money!!

My bookcase arrived in VERY sturdy package that was completely intact. What a nice product...exactly as described. All parts were enclosed and the directions were easy to follow. Had it up and running in about 20 minutes. Looks much more expensive than the money I spent. It is very sturdy. If I find the need to purchase another I will certainly be getting another one of these. I would recommend this product to all of my friends
