Stamina Deluxe Conversion II Recumbent Bike/Rower

Generally, I use this product in a modified manner. First, as a recumbent bike, it works pretty well, and the eight (8) levels of resistance can give your legs a pretty good workout. The front section, though, could be about a 1/2-inch narrower, because sometimes I feel my Knees rub against the console. Second, as a Rower, if I set the seat to glide, I found these two primary problems: I found my knees started to hurt, because the Wayfair don't allow for any foot movement left or right (due to the ridge that runs around the heel section of the foot rest), and this caused sort of a bow-legged effect when I was gliding up and down on the glide path. Additionally, when pulling on the rowing handle, which is set at the top of the front flywheel section, the very front end would pop off the ground and the stabilizing bar under the glide path would move around a lot. This made the experience a bit uncomfortable. BUT ... I modified how I use this product. I set the seat to the fully extended position for the recumbent bike (allowing about a 1-2" bend in my knees) and locked it into place, which also allows me to place my feet on the front stabilizer legs when I want to use the Rower capability. This doesn't allow for a full extension of the back during the pull on the row (maybe 70%), but now, I can alternate between the recumbent bike and the rower during an exercise routine. The front end is very stable, and I get a great workout for both the lower and upper body. The rower particularly works out the arms. To actually use the machine for the upper-body exercises like they market the product, I have to stand at the front of the machine and face toward the seat (basically, the opposite side of the machine as they picture), and keep my feet on the stabilizing legs. Otherwise, if I do it from the side shown in the pictures, the front end, once again, pops off the ground. Quite frankly, I don't use the machine for this purpose. One additional benefit, though ... is when the glider/seat is in the upright position, it functions as a great support for many stretching exercises. I even use this for that purpose, alone, when I am using my other exercise equipment. If my fitness level and workout expectations were of an advanced or elite level ... this machine may not be for you. If you're like me, and are not concerned with extreme fitness ... then as a multi-functional piece of equipment, I think it is decent. All-in-all, with the modification I've made and described above to the way I use it, I am pleased with the machine."..."  Read more

I've been using this machine now for close to a month, 3 to 4 times a week for about 20 - 25 minutes each session vigorously. So far so good. The seat slides back and forth silently and smoothly. I am a bit concerned about the four polypropylene support wheels that have a groove built in to them to keep the seat on track. I could see if I was a bit of a "sloppy rower" and shook a lot from side to side, moving the seat a bit off and on the track, that these wheels could start to break or deteriorate at some point. So far I haven't had a problem though and I'm pushing 200 lbs. I have made sure to follow the built-in track as consistently as possible without excess shaking or causing the seat to "jump" or tilt. At this point I haven't had any issues with the hydraulic resistance shocks on either side, and I really like the "orbiting arms" that allow the handles to move side-to-side. With my old rowing machine I'd sometimes hit my knees on the handles when moving forward between each stroke, which is not a problem here. So far I've been pretty satisfied, and I am also liking the "tilting" or inclined rowing which is really good at working out my stomach muscles. The onboard computer is useful for measuring time, number of strokes, speed, etc..., and I haven't been pushing it off the base with either of my feet. Outside of potential long-term reliability concerns this is a good product. I have read on other sites that people have had satisfying customer service experiences with Stamina, which is a plus."..."  Read more

This rower is a great way to make fitness a priority - TODAY! A great way to work on strength, endurance, AND get into the exercise groove. Just jump on & start rowing... it measures time, distance, calories, and speed. Need a break? When you stop to take a breather, the clock stops, too. When you're ready, just start rowing again - the clock continues. You never even ned to press any buttons! I've used my rower for almost 2 weeks... I can see changes in my body and the way I feel already. I look forward to longer-term changes, as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"..."  Read more

I use the rower every other day for 30 min. I really like the way the pulls feel, the tensions at the fulcrum of the rowing arms give the same sense as when the oars hit the water. Very realistic feel. I can feel it working on my back, shoulders, chest and abs. Lower body feels good on buttocks, legs and knees. I would have liked it to be a bit longer, maybe 4-6 in, and better quality plastics in foot pedals. Excellent value for the money to simulate a great rowing workout."..."  Read more
