Although not "shatterproof", tempered glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering creates balanced internal stresses which cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury."

However, it is a well crafted, quality piece. Also, the 2 outermost side pieces are just a facade and have no shelf for storage, therefore only the center part of the unit is legitimate storage space. Was this helpful? Yes / No

Took about 15 min and it was in place and ready for the TV. Will be buying another one for the bedroom television in the highboy size. Only small flaw I see is the wasted space on the sides, but middle works great for our receivers and players. Service Review I ordered this three or four days before Christmas fully expecting it to arrive after the first of the year, but crossing my fingers it would get here by New Years.
