These light were perfect for what I needed: low profile lights to build into kitchen cabinets. These were just the right size to fit over the sink where we did custom cabinets, but didn't have room for traditional recessed lights. The lights look good. They are a little dim if you want to use one (12W), but with three, the light is just right. They came packaged with a cut out template. I needed to buy the bulb and transformer, but pretty easy overall. Installing the bulbs is a little more work. You need to pull the entire light out and take the housing apart to install. These are truly beautiful fixtures, extremely well built, and they bring an artful touch to recessed, can lighting. Our kitchen is quite large and an open design. These lights provide perfect ambient lighting in the center of the kitchen. The 30watt bulbs are very bright and the frosted glass disperses the light perfectly. The PERFECT solution when you need lighting but don't want the look of a canned lighting fixture. We love them, even though they were expensive."..."  Read more

Very nice item, I had 15 of these installed 5 years ago in a dining room and hallway. However, one of these units just quit working when the transformer failed, and had to be replaced recently, which meant $225 for an electrician plus the new unit, then a few hours by me repairing the plaster and repainting. I hope this doesn't mean I'm going to have further reliability problems with these units. Also, the bulbs are a bit of a hassel to replace, as the retaining ring and front glass have to be removed, and then the ceiling collar has to be pulled off. Fortunately that's something that has to be done only infrequently. Overall I like these units - no hum, attractive look, nicely dimmable."..."  Read more
