The Museum of New Mexico Collection

The Museum of New Mexico Collection From Quoizel

The Museum of New Mexico Collection When the Spanish conquered Mexico in 1540, and claimed it as a territory of Spain, a free flow of trade in European goods began. Over time European elements were incorporated into Mexican and American design. All over Santa Fe - on gates, window grates, outdoor lanterns, and park benches - one can see evidence of Spanish influence. The central motif on this shade was inspired by the Spanish metal work exhibited in the New Mexico History Museum/Palace of the Governors.
