I ordered the table base without the top. The table base comes in four pieces (base, column, table top support and connecting rod). Although I was able to assemble the four pieces on my own, you may need another person to assist you. The base and the table top support are cast iron and the column is a steel tube. The assembly is held together with a steel threaded rod that goes up the center of the column. Once assembled, the table base is very sturdy. The paint quality was very good. The assembly was a bit difficult. The quality of the reversible table is very good but not top of the line. The pedestal assembly is cast iron and steel. It is very sturdy. The cast iron was apparently made in China and the table top made in Iowa. This pedestal at the shortest height will probably hold a 48X48 hard wood or pine table top without too much trouble. For my high-end, modern but small condo I was looking for 2 small square bar tables that can be put next to each other for larger surface area when needed. These work very nicely, look good, and are priced quite low comparing to any other similar options, especially as square bar tables are hard to find. I'm using the black 24"x24" surface which looks quite modern. Only the corners are a bit rounded. The table has adjustable legs to fix any wobbling, but could be little more sturdy. The surface of one of them doesn't sit completely straight and slightly leans to one side, I plan to look into fixing this later."..."  Read more

Make sure you order bar height chairs to go with this table. It is exactly what I was looking for - small size/clean design at a great price. You have the option of table top - black on one side/"cherry wood" look on the other - we went with the wood look as it matched our wet bar cabinets perfectly."..."  Read more
