I love the look and the functionality! I bought two Taylor 26" Stools (they come as a set of 2 stools) to go with this table and the set is sharp! This table was EXACTLY what I wanted. I wanted a small dining room table because I have a smaller space for it. This table is perfect because I can drop half down and push the table against the wall and use it as an end/side table. With stools tucked under it looks very, very cool. THEN, when I need a dining table, I can pull it away from the wall and lift up the other half of the table top and arrange with dinner settings. I really think this set looks great and it functions perfectly with what I want/need. One last suggestion for those who don't know which bar stool HEIGHT to pick (to go along with this table): It was confusing to me because I saw another store listing a set (the table and four 30" stools) so I didn't know which stool height to go with. I checked around and found (online) suggested bar stool height for certain table heights. 26" stool height was frequently suggested for this table height. The 26" stools are PERFECT with this table! We have a "half-wall" between our kitchen and family room which is almost exactly the same height as this "pub height" table. It folds up against the wall with the two chairs stowed under it and can be easily moved out for use as our breakfast/informal dining table. This saves us quite a bit of space, giving the room a more "open" feeling when it is folded up against the half wall. It takes two people, one on each end, to smootly reposition it because we use it on an oriental rug over a tile floor with relatively wide grout lines. Its plastic feet tend to catch and move the rug if it isn't lifted up. The table is quite substantial and will probably last as long as we do. The table took me about half an hour to assemble and clean up. It took a little extra "fiddling around" loosening all the mounting screws that hold the top in place in order to get three of the screws to fit into the rail opposite the hinge on top, but when they finally went in, the top was extremely secure and unlikely to ever have a problem with the screws working their way loose. The top has a pattern "distressed" into the veneer which might give you a little bit of a problem if you wanted to write on a sheet of paper on top of the table. It is well finished in a brown stain which is quite dark, almost black, but which should blend in fairly well with other pieces. We have several antiques in the room which have slightly lighter cherry/mahogany finishes, and some tall end tables on either side of a reclining love seat that have a slightly different more reddish cast, but the table "fits in" well."..."  Read more

I ordered the table base without the top. The table base comes in four pieces (base, column, table top support and connecting rod). Although I was able to assemble the four pieces on my own, you may need another person to assist you. The base and the table top support are cast iron and the column is a steel tube. The assembly is held together with a steel threaded rod that goes up the center of the column. Once assembled, the table base is very sturdy. The paint quality was very good. Having worked in steel manufacturing, I find the table base to be a bit expensive considering the materials it is made from."..."  Read more

I had a hard time finding a table that is long enough, also narrow (but functional) for a small area. There is just enough wrought iron deail to make it beautiful without appearing too bulky.
