houdini has yet to escape this cage
Denisse Gutierrez from oakland, ca
My husky suffers from extreme separation anxiety, which means that when left alone at the house he destroys anything and everything. I've tried everything from running him prior to be leaving him alone and he is still really destructive. He has already escaped from two cages, somehow he figures out how to open the cages. Its been 1 week so far and he has not figured out how to open the cage. I leave him in the cage for 3 hours max at a time. I don't have any complaints as far as him escaping. I just wish that the cage floor was different because it does seem a bit uncomfortable for dogs to lay in. I would recommend this cage to other owners that have dogs that suffer from separation anxiety and are great escape artist. Now i don t have to worry about mu husky destroying my house.

This crate is heavy duty and sturdy. Our Mastiff/Rottie mix can escape from any cage/crate, even at the vet or when he is being boarded... We are taking the training with this crate very slow, and have not left him alone in it yet, however so far we are very impressed with the strength of the door and the bars. The only drawback I can see is the base is not solid, instead has bars. His food sometimes falls through, causing quite the sniff-o-rama for him. I was worried that it wouldn't be comfortable on his feet, but it really doesn't seem to bother him at all. The door easily comes off it's hinges, which I also like because we currently have it sitting in our living room (for training purposes) and it is nice not having a swinging door all of the time. There are two locks, but I would probably add on a carabiner clip, because they seem like they would be pretty simple to figure out how to slide. Like other reviews mentioned, my biggest concern is that the crate will be so sturdy that my dog will actually hurt himself, trying to escape, so again, we are taking this training very very slow. The crate was expensive, but we do feel like we did get what we paid for. I am confident that it will finally be the crate that contains this dog!
Worth Every Cent!

We have a pit mix with severe separation anxiety. She only tears up around the doors of wherever she is left. We have been very concerned that she will end up hurting herself. This crate is as sturdy as it looks in the picture... looks like a lion's cage! I love that it is on lockable wheels. We tried to put a bed in their to make it more comfortable for her, but that didn't last. We ended up cutting a rubber horse stall mat to fit inside so she doesn't have to lay directly on the metal bars. Like other reviewers have said, a better closing mechanism would help, but that is the only so-called complaint. Shipping was extremely quick, too.

Our Pit/Mastiff mix was escaping from every crate we tried. She would get out and destroy everything she could get a hold of while we were gone. This crate is well worth the price. We are finally able to leave without having to worry about the safety of our dog and our house. It was easy to assemble and exactly what we needed!
This kennel is GREAT!!!!

I have a larger dog and he has separation anxiety. I was looking for a kennel that he would not be able to get out of. He has gotten out of and destroyed 2 of the normal wire kennels that you can get for dogs. I don't know what it is about this kennel but my dog loves this kennel. He didn't like going into other kennels but he will just go into this one. The only thing that i did not like about this kennel is the floor of the kennel. I placed some cardboard and then i have the blanket for my dog.

My 30 pound dog chewed through 2 wire cages. This is indestructible and she hasn't been able to figure out the latches yet
Happy with Alcatraz
Ruth from Lees Summit, MO– Verified Buyer
This "Alcatraz" dog crate is the best purchase we have made in awhile. Our regret is that we didn't purchase it sooner. The Alcatraz contains our "Baxter" while we have to be away for a few hours. Baxter has escaped from many kennels, sometimes with no signs of effort.....kennel in tact. The Alcatraz has kept our Baxter safe and eased our mind and heart knowing he is okay.

Crate: 1 Dog: 0 -- A very sturdy, strong crate I would recommend for any dog with anxiety issues - even dogs that try to chew through things.

I have a Houdini dog. This crate is SOLID! Now I can leave and not worry about her trying to get out or hurting herself in a wire crate. I still put a lock on the door though (just in case.......) great product that will last forever. Would definitely recommend.

I have sunk so much money in cages for my dog because he ruins them and gets out of them. I have had this cage for two months now and nothing! It is awesome. Very sturdy. The slide out tray underneath is nice too.
