Prevue Hendryx Silverado Macaw Cage - 3155S

I bought this cage for my Blue and Gold Macaw. He loves the extra space as this is a HUGE cage. It looks very chrome like in the picture but it has a smoke grey/black powdercoat on it so don't expect it to be shiney when you get it. A few bars came bent but with a gentle bit of elbow grease I was able to bend them back to normal shape. Also bent was the seed catcher (bib), but again, I just bent them back to normal shape and they attached perfectly. One hole was drilled on the side when it was supposed to be drilled on the front but my hubby drilled a new one. Normally I would call the company and get it sent back but come on now...minor things like this arent going to affect the integrity of the cage, even keeping in mind that my Macaw is a destructive bird, getting it sent back and waiting for a new one was not on the agenda. I put this cage together myself, but definitly have a friend over for a beer and to supervise in case you need a hand. It rolls smoothly on the big casters which is nice to my wood floor. The horizontal bars are really handy on the food dish sides as it has deterred the bird from tossing the foor out of the cage. Overall, this is an AWESOME cage...my Blue and Gold loves it, he took to it immediately, so I couldn't ask for anything better.

Our 2 macaws Lucy and Snickers love their new home. Has lots of room to spread their wings and lots of toys. Very Happy with this purchase and quality of the silverado cage.

This cage was packaged and shipped with great care, totally reinforced to avoid damage. I actually was able to put all but the seed guards together by myself, just took a bit of planning and ingenuity. Had one small insert for the casters that was damaged, left a message to the manufacturer (on a weekend) and they called me back as soon as the week began; received the part in no time through Wayfair. I was completely impressed by the service and product I received. Thanks.

The Silverado Dometop is serving us very well as our Scarlet Macaw's 'house'! Loved seeing this model (after we purchased) touted on a bird-care website as 'the perfect-sized cage for a macaw'. We love that it rolls (easy to move while cleaning). The feed cups and the pull-out floor grille and tray are all designed for easy access from outside the cage. Not a design flaw by any means, but just be aware that, due to the Silverado's considerable size, it is most helpful to have more than one person available for set-up and also for removing/replacing the grille and tray while cleaning.

I have a Citron cockatoo who I bought the cage for. It is a huge cage, its the biggest cage I could find for the price. I love this cage. It has the same wire gage as most of the other cages its size. I was reading the reviews and realized that I might have put my cage together wrong (my tray pulls out from the back). I put this cage together by myself but it would of been alot easier with two people. And I am about to buy another one for my blue and gold macaw. The only negitve thing I could say is that it is hard to clean because I like to power wash my cages and to do that I would have to take it apart to fit it through the door. Great buy though.

I've noticed several buyers complaining about the bottom drawer on the Silverado bird cage pulling out from the back? If you have to pull your bottom drawer out from the back then you have assembled the cage incorrectly, I know because I did it wrong the first try myself. The bottom side panels need to be reversed so that the side rail end-stops face to the back of the cage bottom. Our cage did have a wire that missed an end weld but the manufacturer sent me a whole new top piece to replace the defect all the way to Hawaii, free! Great cage for the money and my Macaw likes it so well that she now puts up a fuss when we move her from the Silverado cage to her outside avairy each morning! Also there are two welded loops directly under the door latch just for a padlock to keep the door very secure and the bird in the cage.

The only things good about this cage is the interior size and the size of the door. The bar spacing is too big for any bird that won't be able to rip the cage to shreds. I use it now for my Yellow Naped Amazon who just happens to be a bit on the big side and can't fit his head through...I would NOT put a macaw in this cage. The welding is weak and the "dome top" is held together by small pieces that can very easily be picked apart by a Macaw and if the bird does that, the top will literally collapse in on the bird due to the design of the top. All the doors don't sit quite right so they are hard to open/lock...Basically, until the bar spacing is brought down to 1" this cage is not good at all...and for the money there are better cages out there (especially for a Macaw) I got this cage used from someone who had a Green Wing in it and he had to stop using it before his bird destroyed the cage. He traded it to me for a guitar and said he hoped my bird wouldn't be able to take it apart since Amazon's are not as strong.
