The rack has been great now that it is up with no serious problems and it looks very nice. The biggest difference, that I noticed putting it together was I needed a longer tie clips to hold it into the wall. I had some tie straps that were longer and so that worked which made it snug. The 3 back pieces on the back of the rack, I ran out of room to nail a couple of nails in. It would have been nice if it were marked on the back for the nails and some kinds of marks for where things should go and that way there is room. I think that is why I ran out of room. Other than those couple of things the structure is great and I am pretty pleased with the storage rack.
Great Media storage

We are really happy with our media storage unit. We have finally found something that will hold all of my husband's CDs with some room for growth (he bought three more last weekend). I do agree with some of the other comments about painting the underside of the top before assembly. It would have look terrible to have the raw bottom. The shelves are not painted on the bottom either so we set up a quick spray painting and all is now black. Painting the top is critical - not so much the shelves. Other than that this is sturdy, looks great and I would definitely recommend it. Assembly took us about 1/2 an hour, but we've put together a lot of this type of thing giving us an edge.
Great DVD Rack

Good DVD rack for the price. Simple yet still looks professional. Only drawback was the assembly as with anything like this you need to put together.
needed a specific size

Added it to my walk in and it fits great. Would of loved it to be taller but it looks great

My brother and I put this together in a little over an hour. (Hes VERY handy). I wish I had taken the advice of another reviewer and painted the top piece black before assembling. ~ Thats the only reason I didnt rate this product 5 stars. I like the ALL black look and you can see the wood underneath the shelves and the top piece. Other than that this DVD is amazing and my Fiance really loved it. It most definitely must be secured to the wall.
Works great for me

This was easy to put together and looks great. Holds a ton of DVDs and makes them easy to see. Two minor problems - 1) the trim on the sides makes it difficult to see the movies at the ends of the rows; and 2) the underside of the top is unpainted. I think those are minor problems (at least for me), and overall I'm really happy with this purchase.
Exactly what I wanted!

I had been using cheap bookcases to store my extensive collection of dvds, couldn't find anything, had to pile them 3 deep, etc. This was the answer to my dreams. Takes up much less room than the bookcases (due to its smaller depth)and now all my dvds are filed alphabetically and ez to find! Was very glad to find it in black (same color as my entertainment center). My son and daughter in law put this together for me on a Sunday afternoon. Took about 2 1/2 hours. Better to have two people to put it together, it is big and heavy. Also, love the "foot" at the bottom of this - I have it on shag carpeting and it never gets tipsy, like my cheap bookcases did. I have measured the other living room wall, where I keep a bookcase of VHS tapes - I intend to buy another unit to store those!

Very nice storage unit! Instructions could be clearer, but for price, nice quality. We are using it on the back wall of our home theatre, it's shallow size makes it very efficient.

This in addition to a larger Prepac storage rack I own. The instructions are not very clear but since I previous experience with assembly this wasnt a huge issue. My main complaint is the plastic dowels are easy to break so beware. The storage rack is very functional.
Actually using as a bookcase

It took us longer than we thought to put it all together (tip: only attach bottom base before nailing the back on! So complicated puting everything else together with bottom base on.)
