Prepac Black Sonoma Cubbie Bench - BSC-4820

I bought this bench to go in my front entry as a place to store shoes and bags. It's decent quality for the price and was pretty easy to put together. We have some concerns about sitting on it since it's all particleboard, but it looks nice in the space and the price was great.

I bought this as an alternative for a long, spacious plant stand to be placed under a large, low window. With ample storage under it, it was the ideal solution for the space. The original top would definitely not last long as a plant stand because it scratches very easily and isn't water resistant but, after laying an extra top on it (home made out of plywood and marine vinyl, for just a few dollars), it works and looks great. It would have been nice if the underside of the original top were finished (black), since it hangs out but, if you do not get on your knees around this piece, you won't notice. I'm yet to see how it holds up to the weight on it (it IS supposed to be a bench!) but so far so good. The design is very smart and the quality is decent but certainly not high-end--you get what you pay for.

I needed something in my entryway for shoes, socks, school items, and something to sit on when putting on shoes. I used to have an ottoman bench there, but stuff on top fell off when we opened the ottoman. This Sonoma cubbie bench is perfect, looks attractive and looks expensive. I bought black canvas storage bins for the cubbies. The interior designer who picked out everything else in the house probably would be mad that I bought this on my own without her expensive input. The only thing I dont like is that when I was hammering on the back panel, I got too close to the top surface and the nail slightly raised a small portion, the area of a postage stamp, on the top surface. It is not noticeable unless you really look for it, but I know it's there.

When this arrived, I was sort of horrified and surprised that it was all in a flat box. Even after opening the box, I was afraid it would look cheap and might not hold up. But after the easy assembly, it looks great, and is very sturdy. The only thing I wish is that the instructions were better about nailing in the back panel. Wish they warned you not to get too close to the top surface. It would even be better if the back panel had marks to show where to nail it in, and marks to help you line the back panel up to the back of the product before nailing it in.

The cubbie is great for storage in my son's bed room. Very easy to put together. Makes a great seat also!

We bought it for my son's bedroom at the end of the bed. It is great for playstation accessories and games. The only thing I would have liked was baskets for each area. Great buy!

We put this piece in our front hallway, by the stairs with 3 baskets in it, one for me and each of my 2 kids. As we pick up the house, stuff gets tossed into its respective owner's basket. At the end of the day, everyone takes their basket upstairs to put away their things. We hung a large mirror over this piece, and it's perfect for us to sit and tie our shoes and other last-second primping before leaving the house.

This was hands-down one of the best experiences I've had ordering over the internet. The product came when promised, as ordered, in perfect condition, and I will be a repeat customer!

I really like the way the bench looks- its very attractive--but after having it less than a month, it broke!! 2 teen age boys sat on the bench-- gently not like they ran and jumped on them and it broke. There combined weight of the 2 guys was less than 300 pounds.
