Made of heavy gauge powder-coated tubular steel frames, textured chrome plated decorative inserts and lattice end panel, and black aniline laminated work surface, this study loft has the rugged construction to survive in any youth environment. Mum from FL	5.0 1/17/2010 Great sturdy bed This bed is great for my 8 year old son. It is quite high but he loves it. The desk area is large and he can easily stand under the bed - I have to duck slightly at 5'6". It did take some time to put together but my husband managed it in about 2 hours. It feels sturdy and secure. The ladder only has narrow steps/runs for your feet so I find it slightly uncomfortable on bare feet but my son doesn't seem to think it is or care. Was this helpful? June from dallas,tx	4.0 9/7/2007 My son loves his bed Puting it together wasn't that easy for us, some of the bars were bent(not bad), but were easy to bend back. After we got it together it was great, I bought it for my son and he loves it, but so does my duaghter. We have taken it apart and put it back together which was alot easier the second time and it is still sturdy. It was easy to move. I think the heaviest piece is the work surface.
