The Nostalgia Electrics Retro Kettle Popcorn Maker is Great. It needed little assembly and was easy to put together. This is very simple and really easy to use. My 8 & 12 year olds can even use this and make popcorn quick and easy. This makes theater style popcorn in the comfort of your home, perfect for movie night or any and everyday. All you have to do is add popcorn cooking oil and popcorn with the measuring cup and spoon provided. You can hear the popcorn popping. Just make sure that when the popcorn is done popping, you turn it off or you can burn the popcorn. Burning the popcorn doesn't happen unless you leave it unattended or are not paying attention. (It tells you in the direction to turn the unit off after popcorn stops popping infrequent or stops completely.) After the popcorn is done, you just flip the kettle over with the crank handle to empty. You can have it plain for a healthy option, add butter and salt or your favorite seasoning after the popcorn is done. If you want to make more, then just repeat the steps again until you have the desired amount. This unit has a warming light to keep your popcorn hot too. Clean up is simple and easy. After the unit is unplugged then you can wipe it with a slightly damp cloth to clean it inside and out. It is recommended to clean the kettle regularly by using hot,soapy water to control grease build up and prevent smoking during popping sessions. I can tell you that my children made popcorn one night and I didn't clean the kettle out until a few days later and it cleaned up pretty easy. (This is not recommended though.) This popcorn maker is so fun and makes you feel like you are popping corn old fashion-style! We really enjoyed the whole process from putting in the kernels to the dumping out the last few popped pieces from the kettle. The kettle does get extremely hot so make sure you watch your hands when you are scooping out popcorn from the back. Not all popcorn kernels get popped but when does that ever really happen? Makes great oil-popped popcorn and does so pretty quickly. We love ours for family movie nights. Also, be aware that this is a pretty large machine, ours was a little too tall to fit on the counter underneath our cupboards so we had to use it on the kitchen table. The footprint for this machine is larger than most standard air poppers but it isn't really that big of an issue. Just got this machine a couple of days ago and my girls can't get enough cotton candy! So far we have only used hard candy - bought the sugar too, but haven't used it yet. Lifesavers work very well - Jolly Ranchers...not so much (don't know why)- broken sucker pieces - worked very well. How fun to have green apple, pineapple and lime flavored cotton candy! My only negative comment is that the machine is very loud. It sounds like a jet engine - we were waiting for the machine to "take off"! Would buy again though. I bought this for my Dad for Christmas and he made popcorn with it that night for the grandchildren. Cleans up well-a little hard to get to some spots.
